Hello there again , Sorry for bothering you again so quickly ... but I do have one last question for you about my new land. I have 'purchased' (given a big lump sum .. and pay tier fees to my land lord's paypal) a large plot of land on an island.... I just went around to my objects and when I looked at the properties it says that they are all owned by the 'group' of my sim. Am I allowed to make my own group and .. have my land be attached/affilliated with it? I believe I am , but I wanted to make sure. I just am feeling that .. if my land and items are group owned by everyone in the island's group .. doesn't that mean they can take control of them .. move them .. etc ? ----- One last thing , this question may relate to my future plans. I want to purchase another plot of land on this island to incurr some more prims.... Will I need/ be able to put both lands in the same new group I create? I almost think that is necessary to share the prims .. but I am just trying to be sure. Please let me know , and thank you in advance

The group ownage depends on the sim and the covenant the owner has set.
If you can group one plot of land on that sim you can group any. Groups aren't limited to one plot ^_^

You may make up your own group, then set the group of the land to your new group. You need not transfer ownership of your land to the group. There's a separate option for the owner of the land to set a group for the land. When you set a group for the land, then various other land options can be set to restrict those options to members of the group only. For example, you may want to restrict building and running scripts to group members only.
Of course, check your covenant, perhaps your covenant requires that you keep the group of your land set to a certain group. That does not mean that the group owns your land or the objects on it. However, every member of the group could do things that are allowed by options that are restricted to group (building, running scripts, object entry).
Setting the group of the land is different from transferring ownership of the land to the group. That's confusing, but important to remember.

Thank you for the fast replies! I did look at the covenant and it doesn't say a single thing about restricting me to her group ...but I just want to be really careful and not anger the sim owner.
Is it common practice when you are 'renting/owning' a section of a island to make your own group? The reason i'm asking is when I look at the properties of one of the objects on my island, it says 'group' (group of my island) and that is what was worrying me. If it says that .. does it mean my group has control over my items?
And , to remedy this ... I should be able to create my own group ... add my plot of land to it ... in the 'about land' 'general' 'group' 'set' button ? ^_^ I did notice when I go there ... the land isn't assigned to any specific group .. but for some reason my items are.
Sorry for the confusion .. hopefully I explained it well enough

Sorry for the confusion .. hopefully I explained it well enough If they have you as the owner, but the group is below that, don't worry about it. Just means that you had that group title on when you rezzed the item ^_^ Nothing to worry about, they cant do anything unless you deed the items to the group.

*huge sigh of relief* whew! That is what I wanted to hear <3 thank you very much!
One final thing .. if I do buy/rent the other piece of land .. do i need to make a group and put both pieces of land in it .. in order to share prims? I think I do .. but I wanted to be sure
or does .. t he island just know that I own two sections then .. and automatically give me all the prims from both .. to use wherever I like on the two lands?

It is a security feature - only members of the group may have their items stick on the parcel. Many landlords use this feature to stop griefers from keeping objects or just to stop random litter on the land. The group does not have control over any item unless the item's owner clicks "share with group" on the item AND the group owner has enabled manipulation of group objects in the group powers. An object can have the setting of the group (being "set to group" without being controlled by the group.

FYI - If you want anyone but yourself to be able to set their 'home' location on your parcel, then the parcel will have to be deeded to a land control group. this is a VERY common arrangement with private sim landlords. You buy the parcel, you deed it to a group you control, and those in your group that you allow the group role permission for can set home there, do terraforming, and do a number of things that otherwise only the 'Owner' of the land can do.
On the other hand, if you are "Renting" a parcel, and haven't paid a large up-front fee, the usual practice is that you have to join the landlord's land group. You have far less control this way, but if you ever want to move on, you just do it, since you don't own a financial stake in the parcel anyway.
