Can you AR someone for verbal abuse? I was in a store the other day and some guy was trying to talk to me,with the ever so romantic"Do you want to f*ck?" I ignored him and he proceeded to call me stupid and a bunch of other things. I just left. However, I was wondering is it possible to report something like that in the future? That has to be against the TOS,right? I know you can AR actions, but I wasn't sure how verbal communication was treated in SL. Sorry if this is a stupid question.

The easiest thing to do is just mute them. By the time the AR was investigated the offender will have probably already gotten bored and gone back to WoW.

Yes you can if you feel it was sufficiently offensive. Personally, my tip when in this situation will always be just to say penguin until they leave you alone. Literally just the word penguin. Confuses then bores them. Or occaisionally if they are actually nice but inept it might make them talk like a reasonable citizen instead :)

I don't think ARing them is necessary--you have the ability to mute them both in voice, and in text.

If you feel like they are a detriment to society, then feel free to AR them...without proof, however, it may be difficult to see results.

Just mute 'em.

You can mute a person who is using voice by clicking on the little chat bubbles next to the voice tab at the bottom of your UI. It will give you a list of the speakers near by and active ones will have a green symbol like the ones over our heads when we are talking. You can click on the name of the person you want to mute and mute them.. You can also adjust volume this way as I find some people very loud or very soft.

As well, you can mute the people who leave their voice channel open and you can hear them breath and the toilet flushing.

For some reason, this absolutely cracked me up.

I don't get this sort of abuse, but I would go ahead and mute them and not bother with the AR. Like others have said, nothing would come of the AR fast enough to make a difference, and it seems like this was random drive-by abuse and not someone who is stalking you or repeatedly giving you trouble.
