That is your avatar key. It's just like knowing your name, and nothing to really worry about. These days tons and tons of gadgets can detect your key.

tho. . .with the information, he can find out when you're online, and use it in scripts to specifically target you. Create objects to send you messages--which you can always mute, of course.
it's not a BIG deal, and there's really no specific defense.

You can get just about anybody's key by searching for their name then looking at the URL of their profile - don't even have to be in-world or use a script: http://search.secondlife.com/search.phpIt means nothing. Just a wannabe griefer trying to make you scared.

Yeah I use Cool Viewer so I see those numbers anytime I look at a profile. I've been wondering what I was supposed to do with them. But I figured if somebody wanted me to find them, they'd check that box in friends, or they'd send me a TP request (assuming of course, its someone I know).
They do look kind of creepy. Like a cross between a CD key and a car's VIN number. Makes me feel a little odd that the number is just 'out there.'

If you search a profile in regular "ALL" search in the SL viewer (even if it's hidden from search" the name will come up and if you click that page, the UUID is shown at the bottom of that page too. It's not a secret or anything. It is just a unique identifier. Think of it as your prisoner number.
