I wouldn't belong to any group that would have me in it

I rent a full region located in a corner of a nine region estate. The estate owner is very nice, helpful and available. He's given me full permission over the region including terraforming, textures and restarts.

My only quibble is that I have to have people join my group to visit my region when I'd like to allow anybody to drop by.

Is the estate owner correct? He says it's a Linden thing and his hands are tied. Is there perhaps a setting on his side that would allow anybody to visit? Or am I overlooking something in the group settings that would do this.

If its a private estate and not mainland - he should have made you estate manager. Then you go to your SL toolbar and click WORLD->REGION/ESTATE->ESTATE TAB->check ALLOW PUBLIC ACCESS.

If it's mainland click the middle of the toolbar where the land name is ->t5his opens ABOUT LAND. Click the ACCESS TAB and the check ALLOW PUBLIC ACESS.

incorrect, and if you think logically you could figure it out yourself too.

how else could other regions have public access? because it can :)
also for parcels within the region.

it's a setting that can be set either region wide or parcel related.
(e.g. in parcel "about land" window, there is an access tab, where you can set which residents can enter or all residents within the creteria set.)

the same can be done region wide, through the estate window.

to conclude, your landlord is wrong. ;)

Another possibility:
he rented it himself from another landlord, and the contract stipulates it's forbidden to set it to public. Although i cannot see a reason why this rule would be set in place.. but oh well, it's a possible reason for your situation. Thus still wrong, since it's not a LL set thing as he claimes.

That's a tall order.

BTW, it's a private estate. I'll look tonight around and see what I can find.

Thanks for the tips!

I had a couple of minutes at work (don't tell my boss), and found the setting. It was unchecked. So tonight I'll test it out to see if I can get somebody to TP over.

Just wanted to say that I followed these instructions...

WORLD->REGION/ESTATE->ESTATE TAB->check ALLOW PUBLIC ACCESS.

logged on with my alt (I knew it would come in handy sooner or later) and TP'd to my region! Huzzah!

Lias Leandros, I don't know you... but I LOVE you!

Unless you're a dude.

Then I'll just give you a slug in the shoulder... and maybe a noogie.
