The Ctrl-Alt-Right Click is difficult to control when you want to see how you look from the front. Is there an easier way than this?

TIA

Thats what I usually use. Check your mouse sensitivity in preferences, you can adjust it so that it's not so jerky and easier to control your pans. You can also zoom in on yourself and it kind of locks the view so it is easier to pan your view of your avi.

I just hold down my ctrl key and then use the arrow key to spin my camera around to the front.

Easy peasy.

There is also the camera control widget, but I don't remember off hand how to display it. I use this for photos often. That way you can Alt click on where you want the avatar to look and then spin/strafe the camera into the position for the pic. Not the fastest way to move the camera but it also gives a little control the Alt+Click and Ctrl+Click don't have.

I pretty much never use my mouse to control the camera...I far prefer the arrow keys. The Crtl / Alt /Shift combos remain the same, the arrows are just substituted in place of the mouse.

There's also an onscreen control panel you can activate in one of the menus up top, but I don't know of too many people who actually use that.

I do . I think it's in Tools. It will attach to your HUD and you can place wherever you want.

The good thing about the Camera Control is that you can "slide" your camera rather than rotating it around a point, very useful for centering photos.

It's the only thing I have on my HUD besides my AO.

I am an admitted slave to the mouse. I don't know half the keybord shortcuts most normal people do.

I can do that with the arrow keys too...Ctrl-Alt-Shift-(Arrow).

but the camera control only requires one hand. This is very usful for .. well, times when one hand is busy.

Thank you Ann, I've been wondering for 2 years why there wasn't a way to do that.

SpaceNavigator is also great for that sort of thing. It also requires only one hand. ;)

I use ctrl alt left click and mouse to pan around

I find it gives me the best ability to zoom around up down close far etc

:)

Um, some of these things don't work so well when one has sucked one of the alt keys up the vacuum cleaner.
