Can I Enter Unicode Symbols from the Keyboard?

I know I can copy and paste Unicode symbols into various SL text boxes (chat, group tags, etc). An example is code 2665, a heart ♥ (which you might or might now see here). In MS Word I can type 2665 Alt-X and insert that symbol. Is there a way in the SL interface to enter unicode symbols in a similar manner without needing to copy/paste?

If there is something you are looking for that's not there, you can dig through the chatacter mapper in Windows. I load up "Arial Unicode" as the font but any unicode font will do. This can give you access to some wired symbols and letters.

They don't all show up in most browsers, but if you copy and paste that line into SL chat, you should get the numbers 1 - 10 each in a little circle.

can someone give a step by step proceedure on how it enable those on a windows machine please. i have a friend that does these cute group names and they all look like quotation marks on them
