I've used SL for a year or so - no major problems. However, not sure if it's the viewer upgrades, Quicktime settings or my settings - just can't get video to play within SL. I've tried on my land and other's land - no joy. I've reset my settings half a dozen times - no joy. I've uninstalled and re-installed QT twice - no joy. I've even downloaded all the codecs I can find - no joy!
I can play mov files in IE and Firefox. I have metaverse TV streaming ino my site - I can view it on the web but NOT in SL!
Video says it's playing but all I get is a black screen. If I stop media it goes grey - so something's going on, but I can't see it!
If anyone has a quick fix please please let me know.
No quick fix ... as a first step can someone come and look at the kiosk on my island and tell me if it actually plays - this will, at least, narrow my options.

I am at the SLURL now. I can hear the movie file and if I go into the media tab in the about land window the movie is playing there. However I cannot find a movie screen anywhere around here?

Have you gotten the latest version of quicktime? And is your parcel set up for movies? With the advent of viewing static web pages, you now have to select what type of visual media is on the land in the media tab of About Land.

I cannot see the movie on the media tag so it's got to be something to do with my settings or my machine I guess... And, yes, Cristalle - I believe I have all media settings correct and stream specified as movie. I have just tested QT (latest version) and, while it works on downloaded content, and will play in IE/Firefox with the plugin - it doesn't play from a URL directly in the player ... any ideas on that? |

I am wondering if under PREFS/AUDIO-VIDEO if you have the box ticked for 'play streaming media?' |

The screen at the landing works fine for me.
I am using SL version "Second Life 1.20.14 (92115) Jul 14 2008 15:20:29 (Second Life Release Candidate)". In my preferences under "Audio and Video" all boxes are checked. Good luck getting it worked out. Looks like others can at least see it though. |
