In looking at these forums, I've noticed numerous people posting in BBCode, yet, it doesn't do what the code is supposed to do, rather, it shows the actual code.

I.E. The code:

Is showing me the [color...] etc, rather than actually turning the text Teal. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere or are people just not realizing their code doesn't work?

See Strife's sticky at the top of the thread listing, BBCode Emulation in greasemonkey.

BBCode was disabled more than a year ago "pending an upgrade" that supposedly would have addressed some security issues. Evidently, this upgrade never happened, and BBCode is not available. Strife just figured out a way to emulate some of its characteristics.

Yep, I use Strife's Greasemonkey script and this is what I see in the center of the opening post:

Works great, even if it shouldn't be necessary.

Edit, well, ish...screen capture or the GIMP seems to have altered the colors somewhat and I don't have time to fiddle with it.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Ahh, I should have looked better. Probably why they say read the stickies before posting. *cough cough* >.>

Thank you!

You can also wrap Image tags around a link. Some people won't see it though, depending on their browser.

In the case of url's the BBCode is generated automatically.

I just typed in the bogus link. The tags were added by the the board's program.

Also, the [IMG]tag works, as you probably have noticed.

You're the kind of girl we would all love to tie up and do awful things to. You have a strong sense of self and you are in complete control of your sensual side as well. Based on these pictures, I'm giving you a 9.1 - which is a VERY strong start for your first submission (heh - I said "submission";). You are a slut, but in the most positive, sexy way. Congratulations and shame on you!

it took me a while to notice, but you can also set something like "show images" in the user control panel, which by default is set to "dont show"
once activated all the urls turn into the "image error"

.
