Newbie question. Where is the money coming from for the campers? Does it all come from the landowner who set up the camping?

Money comes from the owner of the camping device. And Ann's right.. campers and camper enablers aren't very welcome around these parts.... (hide!)
I will admit though pretty boldly that I have a camper on my land. It's one of the Work It! gardening barrows that I have stationed next to one of my houses digging in a flower bed. I've had the same girl campin on it for several weeks now.. *shrugs*. It's pretty.. and rather neat lookin... if she wishes to sit there for 2 bucks/per 10 mins, more power to her. I just liked the way it looked.
I'm of the.. not a fan of camper systems though. Only because Ive seen the 20 campers in some places. Rather nasty to walk thru, etc..

There really isn't many camp spaces for real avatars, just bots.
Those of my friends who can't buy lindens answer surveys for money here.
