Need a 'Land' Class

Can any of you recommend a class or tutorial I can take to get a crystal clear understanding of how deeding land parcels to a group works? I want to deed all the public land on my sim to a group, but I don't want the people in that group to have the ability to sell the land or do anything major to the land, abandon it, anything. I am assuming that I just need to set the group's roles and abilities that way, but am not positive. Then, I want to be sure that people who 'are' members of the group do have the ability to rez and script and return objects and such, but no one else. I know a little bit but want a clearer understanding so thought maybe a recommendation from RA for a good class.

Yes, it is all related to the abilities that each role gets, which you can set up before deeding any land to the group. While inworld, you can search for a group called something like SL Land Answers and then in group chat folks will answer any questions and walk you thru things step by step if you wish.

There is a sticky at the top of this forum that should answer some of your questions.

The in world group is "Land Answers Unlimited", if I recall.

Treasure, you can find me in world and come to my island and we can practice buying parcels (for $1L) and deeding them to a group so you become comfortable with the procedure.

Thank you all so much, the SL Land Answers group was very helpful. They sent me notecards and responded privately to me as well in IM. I think I have a handle on it now. It wasn't 'how to do it' that I didn't understand; it was mostly 2 things: The information on the wiki refers to mainland tier issues that go along with it, and I didn't realize that estates don't have those same issues. And, also wasn't sure, if you had a group, and 'didn't' actually deed a land parcel to the group, would the group roles and abilities still work. They won't, I found out. Has to be deeded to the group for the group roles/abilities to work. I had a griefing the other night, and needed to understand the options to lock down my public land parcels, while still having certain people who have a need to rez and script and such, be able to still do that. For example, my art gallery is on a public parcel; but the art director still needs to be allowed to rez and do what he needs to do in the gallery. I'm comfortable with the understanding now, and the group roles/abilities. The thing with the tiers sounded dangerous to me but I found out that only applies to mainland.

It is focused on estate land, so it doesn't go into stuff like mainland tiers, but for land basics, it should answer most questions.

Thanks Ayesha, I went and took your tutorial and it's great! Topic 3 basically told me what I needed to know, I think I finally get it.
