Any ideas where I might find these things? Even Sine Wave doesn't quite have solo animation dances which encompass quite what I'm looking for.

I had been to all the Cartel businesses the last time around and don't really remember seeing any dance pose balls which were specifically rock and roll oriented. I'd love to find something like those old 60's style dances, The Monkey, The Pony, The Twist, The Swim, etc. Or things like ska, reggae, punk, new wave (whatever that might consist of) etc. Couples dances a plus tho I realized nobody held each other doing The Rock Lobster

There is a fun dance place called Run Around Sues or something to that effect -- I'll drop you an LM when I get inworld if you cannot find it in Search.
Anyway, they have lots of 50's dance packs for both single and couples dancing -- I have them all. The dance packs are located on the grass and porch area between the main dance floor and the malt shoppe, if I remember right. _____________________

I'd love to find something like those old 60's style dances, The Monkey, The Pony, The Twist, The Swim, etc. Any ideas where I might find these things? I have 2 solo animations that blend a few dance moves, both the monkey and the twist are included. I got them from LostDog Designs, Ben Stravinsky is the creator. In my wiki page, I have SLurls to different dance creators along with a tutorial of How I dance in Secondlife.com. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/User:Phoenixa_Sol I used those cool retro dances in one of my videos, a tribute to my late mom if you'd like to check them out. I chose them for this project because my mom and I had always enjoyed dancing these when I was very young. They're in the live dance which comes after the still pictures section, and after the ballet/flydance sequence: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWFv9oY8rak If I could get logged back inworld, I could give you the names of the animations as well. _____________________

Now, as I watch it again... there's also a very authentic gogo dance at Promenade. I think that one is called Shimmy, and created by Jenna Fairplay.
and now that I can log back in... "Boogie" is the animation that is the twist. (Ben Stravinsky) "Happiness" is the medley of animations that includes a brief monkey. (Ben Stravinsky) LostDog Designs: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Brauer/70/97/301 _____________________

Phoenixa - thanks so much! First of all, the video is a lovely tribute to your mom. I lost my mom a while back too and miss her so much. This was a wonderful way to express your feelings for her.
The dance information is perfect. It's funny, I was at Lost Dog last night and didn't see any of those dances. I must have walked right by them! _____________________

Thank you for checking it out, and you're most welcome!
I do hope Ben still has those solo animations for sale there. The store has been redesigned so I have no idea where. (though, on my last visit looking to purchase another animation vendor created by Ben, I found there was an additional floor!) p.s. I edited my other post now that I've logged in with the names of the 2 dances. _____________________

ooh ooh ooh.. me too, thank you Malia!!
Hmm, on second thought... I see the twist, and definitely LostDog Designs one is a better quality of the dance. Plus, I have a problem with someone who'd take an animation created by someone else with a description (in contents/properties) of "a gift from the Shelter", put it in a poseball and sell it for money. (ez twist). I see a few other freebies in here for "sale" as well. I prefer buying dances from the creators themselves. _____________________

Elora, I got the Twist at Sine Wave...and I could swear I saw the Pony and the Swim there... Were they called that? If so, where exactly? Not in the women's dance section for sure. I've been through every single one of those dances and I haven't seen anything which is retro there. _____________________

BigJack Rolls has the Twist and Mashed Potato and a few others in his shop... I agree w/ what sombody else said about resellin freebies, and I hopped on over ta Jack's since my grrl is all about 50's and 60's dances. I went through about 9 dances and quit, they were all freebies that you can get at Freebie Warehouse, on the top shelf. They just have different names. I think in Jack's shop, the dances were L$30 per dance, which a new Resident would go: "WOW These are cheap!" Well, hell yeah they're cheap, those are freebies. All the seller did was put em in a poseball for sale. There's a few other spots I have seen (actually a majority of animation and gesture sellers) who resell freebies, so I guess thier competition feels like they "might as well" do it to. Garbage. Look up "FREEBIE WAREHOUSE" and browse the top shelf there. Those dances are all in one crate. _____________________

I saw it on SLX or OnRez but couldn't find it in the store. That's what led me there in the first place. I don't know, maybe I just wasn't paying attention or something last night. I'll have to go back again tomorrow. _____________________

But being here as long as I have been, you think I'd pick up a thing or two by now. That's very unfortunate to find out. Guess I won't be heading over there. _____________________
