Hello everyone,

My SL name is "Miguelito Camino", (some of you may know me as just Miguel), and I have a new mission church in Second Life. Anyway, long story short, I'd really like to offer my visitors things like an events calendar, a prayer list where they can put their names, etc. and this was something I thought would be fairly easy to do. So I created a few objects, wrote on notecards, and put the notecards inside the objects. But then I had the opportunity to share them with somebody - and they weren't allowed to open the objects to see the notecards.

So what I need to know is: (1) is there a way to make objects that are "public" / "open to everybody"? These are objects I created, so I don't quite understand the problem. If that's not possible, (2) is there a script or something that will open a link to my website? I could easily make things available to them that way. I've searched for such scripts and have no idea where to find any. I'm also starting to learn how to write scripts, but I'm a long way from knowing how to do this. :)

Thanks in advance!

Make sure the objects are set to modify enabled.

The easiest and best way to do this is res the object in world. Set the permissions through the edit window. Purge any duplicates in your inventory, possibly renaming one as a backup. Then pick up the final object you ressed in world.

As another option, you could find a script that "gives inventory on touch" and use that to hand over the notecards or whatever.

To direct people to a web page, try the script on this page ...

http://lslwiki.net/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=llLoadURL

to give inventory ...

http://lslwiki.net/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=llGiveInventory

There's also fancier things you could do like "touch to be added to the prayer list". This would work similarly to the guest book scripts you see in art galleries. If you post your request in the scripting forum ...

/54/1.html

... somebody very clever will probably help you out :)

Thanks a lot for your help! It was something on the permission settings I didn't see (the object had already been rezzed - I just didn't see the checkbox allowing others to modify / copy). I'm legally blind so I probably wouldn't have taken a second look if you hadn't said that.

God bless! :)

There are some free scripts around. "Give all contents" or "Give notecard". You put one of those scripts into your "giver" object, along with the things you want it to deliver.

I'll send you the scripts tonight.

Make sure to post about your events in the events forums here too. SL could use more places like yours.

(What you needed was a 'give all to anyone' script but Lindal has it covered. Just put that in the content tab of the boxes.)
