LOL LGG does read the forums, the lag you have is due to the new server deploy... should stable out in a day or so. (read...SHOULD) i have no lag on my Emerald. So... If you still have issues, try sending LordGreggreg a message, you can find his contact info on the emerald site. He will help.. LL could take lessons in customer service from him ~Brie

A possible cause of terrible lag in all viewers may be due to the following :
A few well known palm sellers are currently recommending turning off Lodding. If you want to create the most horrific LAG go ahead and follow the intructions that these irresponsible creators are suggesting.
If you've got the kind of palms that look broken and disappear at a short distance and turn into the most horrid tangled and ugly mess and the creators are recommending that you turn off lodding to fix the mess, what you will actually be doing is turning off a very important optimization process.
Even on a very powerful machine this will cause monster super lag. It might be ok outside your house on your sim but if you go to a full sim that has lots of sculpties or a popular shop or venue with lots of avatars, prepare for super lag. If this is the experience you want follow the suggested instructions below.
These instructions will deteriorate your SL experience, unless you want big lag of course :
LoD (or Level of Detail) still affects sculpties in SL and some parts of complex sculpted items are known to lose their shape when viewed from certain distances. Increasing the Object Mesh Detail Level under your graphics preferences can help diminish this problem, but what I found really to work is under the "Advanced" menu (hit Ctrl-Alt-D, or Opt-Ctrl-D on a Mac to make it visible), click "Debug Settings..." all the way at the bottom, and type "RenderVolumeLODFactor" all one word. Change the value to 4.000 or 5.000.
Turning off the in-built SL optimization and lodding process is not recommended

Well, Thursday and Friday there was a major DDoS attack in progress, aimed at Twitter, FaceBook, LiveJournal, and several other sites. Depending on who your ISP is and how you are routed through the Internet to get to SL, you might have been adversely affected by that attack.

If it's any comfort, last night I was having issues with connection and lag too. I'm thinking it was on LL's end, because I could get around fine when I brought up another graphics intensive program and shut down SL for the night.

Change the value to 4.000 or 5.000. I received these instructions quite a few months back, related to how sculpties look and render. I followed the instructions and have had a much better experience regarding sculpty rendering and cannot say that it has really affected my performance enough to notice. My performance only got bad these last couple of days. And Thrs, when they rolled the new server to only 1/2 the regions, it was actually easy to tell that the lag issues were only happening on the sims that were on the new server version. My performance issues the last couple of days have not been horrid - I am not walking in molasses, but things are rendering slower, regular and sculpty prims both, but especially textures. The really interesting thing is that the walk/fly off to oblivion and then rubberband back seem to happen a lot more after these last two or three server updates. Yesterday, just to verify it was not a viewer issue, I used the LL 1.23.4 verison, the Snowglobe viewer and the Emerald viewer and I never got great performance with any of them.

Well, I hate to say it, but Im glad it's not just me, then. I know I dont have the best graphic card, 5200, so it's a dino now. But I still run other programs ok. I do have a 9800 series but, it wont fit in my pc, so now have to build another pc around it..lol. I really hope LL listens to us at one point and just make the damn platform USABLE!
