Before I enter a sim, is there a way to find out if it's PG or not?

Sometimes when I'm TPing around the grid I'll accidentally wander into a PG sim in the middle of changing or something and I always feel really bad about it. Is there any way to check the rating before I enter the sim?

Heya Sebastian,
One way to find out the rating would be to check the Map view. You can see the region ratings in there.. other than that, not sure if there's a better way to find out ahead of entering the region.

If you have the "Place information" dialog appear it shows the rating right about the Teleport and Show on Map buttons.
For a landmark in you inventory you can right click it and select "About Landmark", then the Landmark dialog shows the M or PG status just like the "Place information" dialog does.

Toss a naked furry cussin' bdsm alt into the region in question first, and see if it gets banned from the grid?

Umm who the heck TP's around whilst they're changing? There's something fishy about this malarkey.

From: Ciaran Laval Umm who the heck TP's around whilst they're changing? There's something fishy about this malarkey. That's what I was gonna say!!! Why are you teleporting while you're changing LMAO.....and.....further more.....in what manner are you finding these regions to teleport to? Are you just opening the map and randomly selecting places to explore without having any knowledge as to whether they are even open to the public? There's a lot of holes in this question. When you search a place.....all of that information will show up in the search page.....and it will also show on the map as others have stated, when you type the sim name.....but by the way you've worded this it seems as if your just opening your map and clicking on any old spot....... why would you do that while changing? lol

Is there any way to check the rating before I enter the sim? You don't have to remove clothing before putting something else on as they replace eachother (and if they don't put the new on then remove the old). Using that method, changing shouldn't show off much. And you know, just cause a region is mature doesn't necessarily mean it's polite to run around nekkid, so use common sense and you have nothing to worry about.

Is there any way to check the rating before I enter the sim? Wait a few months, and then you will no longer need to check because all the sims will be disneyfied to a G rating.

First, find a changing room. They can be found around SL. Or at least, rez a temporary house in a sandbox and change in there. Or, fly up to a couple thousand meters and change clothes while you hover. Or do the same under the sea somewhere.
THEN teleport.
Changing clothes in public is always risky - would you do it in the middle of a real life shopping mall? No. It took me a while to figure out too, though, that sometimes the 'new' clothes being put on don't rez right away and there's a way to prevent that. The above is one way.
Also, as someone else said, put on the new outfit before you take off the old one. Once you have on what you want to wear, type WORN in Inventory, then click and 'remove' or 'detach' anything you don't want on.
Hope that helps...(BTW a lot of Mature sims have a 'no public nudity' rule as well. It may not be against TOS strictly speaking, but, you can get banned/ejected from the sim by the landowner for breaking the sim's own rules. So merely sticking to Mature land won't solve your nude in public dilemma.)

Teleporting while changing is dodgey, people have ended up with their head between their legs and their shoes up their butts from such madness in the past
