Where did the Economy Statistics for SL go?

I swear, month by month, Linden Labs keep making it harder and harder to find the Economic Statistics. The URL to the page used to be on the bottom of the front page of Second Life, but is no longer. The URL I used to have for the SL Economic History summary now leads to a page that has only raw data files you can download, and these files are only good for one day at a time.

http://secondlife.com/statistics/economy-data.php

Then at the bottom says:

"Note: Private Region data has been temporarily unpublished while we correct our reporting mechanisms to account for the recent addition of Openspaces and Homesteads. We apologize for the inconvenience."

Any thinking person has to suspect the truth. They are hiding the facts because they reflect poorly on SL and so they do not want to publish the data.

They've hidden them because they're not accurate and we don't know what they mean anyway.

I agree, "they have hidden them". There is only one good reason for that kind of behavior that I can think of.

No apparently they really are inaccurate, they want to present them to us in more meaningful ways.

FWIW, this topic arose in Jack's office hours today. See https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/User:Qie_Niangao/Jack_Linden_Office_Hour_Transcript/2009-02-12, in the interval 11:53 - 11:57.

This is the same illogical argument that was tried over in the open space sim decision bashing thread. You are an intelligent person ArchTx so think about this. Why would LL wait through 3 months of horrible, negative stats to pull the plug when the stats were flattening out?

"Elanthius, hmm yeah, I can see your point. But the old data was either wrong at worst or misleading at best. Almost no-one really understood what it was telling them."

Now those stats were around for a lot longer than three months.

Its not just the land statistics they have hidden, its all of them. They already removed the land statistics from the page a couple of months ago. Why hide the information unless you are ashamed of it?

I'm trying to reproduce as much of the data as I can here: http://ninjaland.net/stats/

It's a little scrappy right now but I'll have the raw historic data available soon and will fix up some of the graphs over the weekend.

It turns out you can get all the XML files going back to 2006 so that's pretty awesome.

Since when have they cared about accurate? How many "residents" do we have now?

How many "user hours" do we have now?

All they care about is image. Which is of course a short sighted thing that leads to what they have become.

In 5 years LL will be nothing but a foot note in a wiki page that documents epic failures and con jobs.
