Found a nice roller coaster today in SL, here's a 2 minute video taken from the perspective of the rider: http://vimeo.com/2069331The location is: the SIM Ploughman, at the Zero One Tokyo Shopping Mall. Any other good coasters out there? - Infrared

That's the brilliant work of kawasan Mayo! She also makes a wild swinging pirate ship ride that is too fun. Check out Kawasan Land and you'll see it. With Havok 4 finally here, I think you'll see more cool rides that work using SL's gravity and physics. I had been building a suspended coaster last year, but it kept flying off the tracks. Oops. But H4 solved that annoying habit.

For anyone who has tried it, is it (under H4) possible to make a roller coaster that actually works like a roller coaster, or do you still have to have a script behind the scenes faking it?

i'm not sure of your question. sl is ran by scripts seen and unseen. they are the glue that makes it all work, it takes a script to make anything move.So whare are you asking?

From: Mjolnir Uriza i'm not sure of your question. sl is ran by scripts seen and unseen. they are the glue that makes it all work, it takes a script to make anything move.So whare are you asking? What I mean is - if physics modeling were perfect, the only script a roller coaster would need would be to give it a push while it's on the lift hill. After that, it would just be the laws of physics alone controlling the rest of the ride - just like on a real roller coaster. However I know that for some things on SL, such as trains, the physics _isn't_ good enough. So you have things like train tracks having to have a "hidden" center rail and a script that makes the train seek it out - instead of just driving the train forward and letting physics keep it on the track, like a real train does. So has H4 gotten to the stage where we can do with the only script being a push or do we still need scripts to make physical objects act like physical objects?

WOW! some hope to think H4 solved that, yes scripts are needed to make the trolley follow the track and force it up hill and around twists.

This is really amazing! I wounder how it is done.
I'm trying to make a trolly using pure physics (only llTargetOmega script). Problem I am having is the space between physical objects. Back in the day years ago, this wasn't a problem. To recreate what I am saying, make a box, put it on top of that and keep doing this a few times. Select them all and set physical. You can now see the invisable force field around a prim. I have some residents saying this was always here. It was not and there is proof out there, I just have to find my old friends. I tryed changing the prims material to get ride of this. It is either a bug or LL completly took out a way to make physical objects visualy "touch" each other.
Sorry for the bit of off topic.
