Trouble with the newest SL version - older version available still?

Hi.... I recently downloaded the newest SL version.....the water looks much more beautiful and I would really enjoy it, but my graphics card doesn`t seem to be able to deal with it. I crash about every 2 minutes. With the older version I had no trouble at all. As updating my graphics card drivers didn`t help and my laptop is pretty new my conclusion was to better go back to the older SL version. Well, I searched the SL websites but could only find the newest version to download. I own a sim and pay a lotta tiers monthly....and can hardly be in SL right now. I really feel bothered  ( Is there any chance to download an older SL version so that I can be back in SL? Thanks for reading! Lorelai |

yes, i think i need an older viewer as well. i already know i have an inadequate graphics card in my laptop. i have a 2004 sony viao laptop running windows xp home edition. so any viewers that can work on that system is what i need. any help that can be provided is much appreciated.

Windlight came in with the 1.19 versions...running anything older requires finagling. I use Nicholaz's BE-w for 1.18.5.3 on top of the LL-produced viewer. http://www.blueflash.cc/users/nicholaz/BleedingEdge/

LL actually still supports running the 1.19.0.5 release, which is pre-windlight -- and you can download it from the wiki page (4th entry under "2 Release"  . However, the Nicholaz versions are more stable and have fixed many memory and crash issues, so if you still have problems with the 1.19.0.5, then look into Nicholaz.

I forgot about 1.19.0.5...which is sort of odd, considering I had the link to it in my sig line for a couple of months after the 1.19 'standard' WL client came out.

Did you try adjusting the graphics settings with the WindLight viewer?  (Edit / Preferences - check Custom - uncheck Atmospheric Shaders if it's checked, and uncheck Basic Shaders if it's checked, make sure your draw distance is set to something reasonable, as well as the detail sliders) Going with an older viewer is an option right now, but it won't last forever. If a serious exploit comes along, or if they start deprecating network protocols you'll find yourself having to deal with the new viewer anyway. Additionally, 1.21 has new sculpty features so sculpties using those will just look all wrong to you and scripts using the new touch functions will not work/respond properly for/to you either. |

If that does not work, then download and install 1.19.1.4 (windlight also) and set graphics somewhat low there. If you still have problems, go back to 1.19.0.5 version, which is non-windlight. If that is still a problem, send me a PM and I'll help you get the Nicholaz stuff downloaded and set up.
