im desperate now: my isp in israel - netvision - shrugs when i announce im currently suffering in excess of 400% packet loss [yep!]. my calls to their service center have been ongoing for over 2 months. while they have been very supportive, they suggest changing isps in the hope that i might have better luck. we have established its not my gforce 7600, its not my linksys N series wifi router, its not HOT who provide cable infrastructure or their modem.

i would like to hear from other israelis about their local experiences, and hopefully recommendations as to alternate providers or a workaround. im in the sharon region.

i run a business inworld and am currently unable to do squat - no building no editing no nada. and very little rezzing.

pls feel free to contact me directly - thetoothfairy@gmail.com

Hi Toothfairy, and welcome to the forums!

Let us know a little more about your connections. It looks to me like you're using WIFI; this is correct?

Sometimes an ISP won't work on a WIFI connection if it sees a good signal to its modem at your house. I know that I used to use WIFI and DSL and I had big problems inside my house; the ISP said that my lines were outdated and overly long (physically.)

Are you DSL, cable, what? Have you tried connecting your computer directly to the ISP signal, i.e. not using WIFI? What happens when you do that?

oryx tks for yr response: yes im on wifi and cable. via the isp we have repeatedly done all the troubleshooting like resetting router and modem, and i tried connecting direct to modem via cable and still had the same extreme packet loss. they have checked my pings via start/run/cmd and see i have 14% missing there. my isp admits its a problem at their end. the building im in is 2 years old and the cables have been checked.

i pay for a upload speed of 5 but my download as we speak is 5.4 KB/sec...nearly two hours to download gforce driver!

things were fine up to abt 2 months ago - nothing changed as far as hardware is concerned. so im hoping to hear from other israelis as to which isp and cable/adsl providers they use for second life and what, if any, problems they have...
