Does anyone know if it is possible to buy more than the limited amount of Linden dollars, as an island owner?

28 days after your first billing activity with LL your Linden purchase limit will be 2500USD. If you need more, you can put in a limit increase request to LL, but I don't know how successful that will actually be...lots of people have been waiting a long time for a response to their requests. Businesses use a different table, but I'm not sure how LL defines that.

They use these limits to help avoid fraud...if someone with a stolen credit card could immediately purchase $2500 worth of Lindens and auction them off on eBay, that could create a huge problem. The waiting period both lessens the potential purchase amount and makes it more likely that the card will be reported as lost or stolen before the thief does significant damage.

When I first joined I went to Slex to buy L$ over the limit that LL put on my SL account and still do when the exchange rate is better there than the LindeX. Currently the exchange rate there for limit buy orders is about L$279/1 compared to the LindeX rate of L$266/1.

SLX does have a waiting period for new accounts, though...7 days, I think. There might be an initial limit too, but I'm not positive.
