Well, I've started the preview viewer with the intent to select Agni instead of Aditi but failed to remember to change it to Agni 5 or 6 times today alone and it's only 2 pm SLT.
I need a shortcut.
So far I have "C:\Program Files\SecondLifeBeta\SecondLifeBeta.exe" --channel "Second Life Beta" --grid agni --settings settings_agni_beta.xml
This still shows the preview viewer login screen, which is not good, since it says it is logging in to a test grid, when it's not.
Come to think of it, having the preview viewer login screen say it is logging in to a test grid when it's quite capable of logging in to the real grid is not cool at all. The login screen needs to change and say "This will connect to the real grid. Transactions, inventory changes, etc. will be real!" if you use control shift G to select the Agni grid.
At any rate, I suppose my shortcut needs to have a loginurl argument, or some such, so it shows the standard login page. What should that look like?

Try just "C:\Program Files\SecondLifeBeta\SecondLifeBeta.exe" --settings settings_agni_beta.xml You're getting the preview login screen because of the --channel option. Chances are if you logged in with your current shortcut it would take you to the main grid.

Thanks, you seem to be right, deleting the channel part does change the login page, which doesn't make much sense to me. I thought the login page was stored in the program files folder and would expect the program to use the one in the shortcut's startup folder or the folder where the exe file is or some such.
This does not appear to be a good time to test SL starting shortcuts, however.

Shortcut that ended up working for me was:
"C:\Program Files\SecondLifeBeta\SecondLifeBeta.exe" --grid agni --settings settings_agni_beta.xml
