In-world charities and organizations?

This may sound silly, but...

We're throwing a combination housewarming and birthday party on the 26th, and I don't want anyone giving gifts, 'cause we both have more than enough inventory already. ^^

What I would -love- to do, though, is set up some method of optional donations to a charity in lieu of gifts. I prefer the ASPCA or the Humane Society, but I've never seen those two represented in SL (not to say that they aren't, I just haven't seen 'em around).

What I need is some way, ideally -not- a web-site link, to collect donations and send them to an organization like that... something that people can drop Lindens into while they're dancing and hanging out.

If needs be, I can set up a basic donation box, keep track of the amounts, match what's donated, and send out a copy of the receipt along with some kind of thank you gift, p'raps...

But I'd feel better if I could at least get an official in-world link or something to kind of... draw attention to the issue, and have something more than trust that their donations are going to a good cause.

Anyone know of any ASPCA or Humane Society (or similar organizations) in-world?

There is a shoe expo going on right now, that benefits the ASPCA, so I'd say, yes, it's represented :)

Outstanding! ...But how would one go about finding this, please? Is it listed under Events?

Check with Phoenix Chapman -- she is the event organizer.

Thank you--I didn't see it under Events, saw a listing when I searched under the new "All" tab, but it said the privacy settings were such that no details were available. ^^;;
