It has happened to me many times on WoW, Asheron's Call and even LOTRO. I don't think any game is perfect hehe :)

According to the blog, the problem is with their ISP. Now perhaps they made a bad business decision in choosing their ISP. Perhaps going to an ISP with a better service record and/or better uptime guarantees would cost too much, costs that would have to be passed on to us. I don't know - I'm not familiar with buying network center services on this scale. Perhaps some random unexpected event messed up the network. Perhaps some hackers launched a totally unrelated DoS (Denial of Service) attack against the ISP. Who knows?

But, unless there's something they're not telling us, this is not a problem with SL's technical team, and shouldn't be put into the same category as lost inventory, viewer crashes, etc.

To their credit, they at least seem to be continuing the policy of updating the blog hourly, even if the only news is "still working on it."

I SO remember SWG going down for hours past the estimated time that it would be back up. It's not exclusive to SL that grids fail. :)

At release I played on Mal'ganis server for WoW. I got 3 days of play in then my server was unavailable for a week. Linden has a ways to go to match this.

Upon reading another note complaining about the lack of info, I checked and saw that I was being a bit too generous with this comment. They have, indeed, updated the blog hourly since around 2:30 AM SLT, except for the period between 3:30 and 5:20, when they thought the issue had been resolved. It's not obvious that they did so, because they used two separate blog entries.

However, judging by what I saw in that other note, there was an in-world announcement around 11:00 PM to midnight last night, with no corresponding announcement on the blog until the 2:30 AM posting mentioned above.

Ok ok I can handle this, so far the shakes arent bad and that head tick I had in SL once in a while is calming down.

So far I have done what they call RL cleaning, trust me it isnt any fun:( Guess I can do what they call laundry next hmmm wonder how one does that hehe.

So now will try to figure this gimp program out, while the laundry is getting done.
