How to STOP dancing. No, really, how do ya???

Please, can anyone give me a trick on how to stop dancing? I know of three ways and so far, they haven't worked most of the time. There's 'Stop All Animations' in Tools, the Rose, and Mysti Tool. Any others I've missed?

The other night, I wandered around asking random people,

"Am I still dancing?"
"Yes, Isabeau, you are."
"Now?"
"Yes, still."

Then I'd go off and ask someone else, cause there's an unspoken limit to how many times you're allowed to pester people with this inane question. I was a 'tiny' at the time, so most just thought it was funny, but I can assure my pride took a beating that night. Should I just give up dancing? Is logging off and back the only way?

TP home usually works if all else fails. barring that, a relog definitely will.

Teleporting (home or otherwise) doesn't help - it only stops me from actually seeing me dance. To others, I'm still dancing. Guess I'll make sure to relog every time I want to stop. *sigh

Why have a 'Stop All Anims' in tools if it doesn't even work half the time? The rose was a great idea, wish it worked. Any scripters out there care to make a Stop Anims Bouquet? The Ultimate in Stop Animations! I'd buy one.

I have a stop animations object. I rez it on the ground, touch it, and it asks if I want it to animate my avatar. Click yes and i stop dancing. It works every time for me. I think there's a copy at the hangout that is free to copy, or I can drop you a copy in-world. Just IM me if you want me to do that.

If there's an object about that you've given animation permissions to, like a dance ball, you're going to keep dancing while it can see you, even if you stop the animation by some other means.

Best bet is to tell the thing that starting you going to stop. If you can't do that for some reason, try the Stop All Animations in the Tools menu.

This happens to me all the time too, even if i try to stop all animations i can't stop. (Don't stop me now, Im a dancing fool!) The only thing i found that works is this set of stripper poles that i have in my inventory, if someone asks me why are you dancing i rez one of the poles and get on it for a second, when i get off Im better. It has happened so many times now that Im always paranoid after I go dancing and assume that everyone probably still sees me dancing so I go home and do the stripper pole routine. I think the secret is to be careful when dancing and always be aware of what dance you are using and make sure you are stopped before you leave.

Most dance machines in clubs work with the command /99 stop

Yes, and if they actually stopped me, I wouldn't have this problem. Yet, so far, '/99 stop' has no affect on me. The powers that be have decided not to make it easy for me (and others).

This is true the problem is when it looks like you stopped but you really didn't. It seems like it happens especially when the dance machine is acting wierd at the club.

That's totally wierd... and just REclicking the dance ball/board/machine again doesn't work?

I know I've seen it where you don't stop dancing when you reclick or /99stop if you're sitting on a line dance ball, but then you just have to stand up.

Basically you have to make sure you stop dancing (reclick the device thats animating you)

Before you Teleport anywhere.

If you forget to stop before teleporting - you are out of luck.

sometiems typing /99 stop works.. also.. sitting on another poseball usually fixes it.. A trick my sweety taught me on SL.. give it a try..

I think Colette's right here, except... when this has happened to me or my friends, we were able to stop by going back to the same place and using the same dance ball to stop ourselves. Nothing else besides that worked.

The one that I put out is right beside the jukebox. If I forgot to make it copyable, let me know and I'll change it.

I have a Stop All Animations object at my house and it has worked when I've TP'd home without remembering to stop dancing at the hangout before.

I should have said, "Nothing else we knew of at the time." Sounds like a useful object.

Thanx LittleMe. Brann gave me a copy when I passed by earlier. I now have every imaginable 'stop animation' thing out there, lol. I'm set for life.

(As for clicking the same ball before leaving, for some reason it doesn't always work for me. How dare those balls try to control me!)
