I didn't know where to ask this so sorry if this is the wrong spot...

I was wondering if there is a way to make tattoos on only one arm and/or one leg?

thx

One leg? Yes. One arm? Unfortunately not. :(

yes you can't say "I Love Mum' because on the other arm you get 'muM evol I' would work great in a mirror though, shame mirrors don't work in SL.

Because Tattoos are created useing a clothing layer you need to use the clothing templates. Unfortunately, The clothing layers only have one arm, so ehen you apply a picture to this area, it is copied onto the other one - backwards.
Legs however, you just need to create a texture on a lower half layer. These have spaces for both legs so you can do a tattoo on one leg or different tattoos on both legs. This won't be repeated.

Hope it helps :)

PS the texture forum may be able to help you with a few more tips if you need them :) over there they seem to know a LOT more than me at least lol.

I have tried making a texture on a prim and attaching it to the upper arm. To me it looks worse than just having matching tats, but you may feel the novalty is worth it.
