How are SLExchange and OnRez used and/or accessed? From in-game?
If you have a name on your contact list set to not see when you're online, if they begin an IM they'll instantly know, right? Because it won't say that you're offline? Is there a way to fix it so that a contact can't tell at all? And could they still see you online via lists in any groups you belong to? And could they tell on the Friends Online feature of the SL website?
Thanks!

From: Lacy Honi How are SLExchange and OnRez used and/or accessed? From in-game? Both have in-game vendors though I believe they are used mostly as standalone websites. For at least SLX you need to regiester your account by visiting a terminal after making account on the site. I don't know much more than that, sorry. They can tell by IMing and by groups, I don't think they can by the site. The only way to hide totally is.. there isn't one, they can always join any group that has open enrollment that you are in and find you that way. But aside from that, just remocve them from your friends.

SLexchange is a merchant & Linden dollar exchange site. You create an account with them by making a screen name and giving them an email address. Once you have done that, the site will ask you to validate your account, or make your avatar and SLX screen name linked. You click validate on the site and it gives you a phrase such as 'validate frinksee' (for example) You would then find an SLX ATM machine in world (any ATM machine that says SLX on it) and say in text chat 'validate frinksee' in front of it. Once that is done, you can begin buying things from the SLX site which will be transfered to you in world. You can also buy and sell Linden dollars there. You will have a real dollar currency amount & a Linden dollar amount on the site. You must use your credit card or paypal account to give your real dollar balance an amount such as 10 US dollars. Once you do that, you must then convert the 10 US dollars into Linden dollars on the site which would give your Linden dollar balance about 5,000L. You can use that 5,000L to buy things on the site; use the search, find what you want, click buy. SLX merchants have what's called 'magic boxes' on their land which contain the goods which are delivered to customers.
I don't know how the OnRez site works, but I've heard it is similar.
If you uncheck a friend's ability to see you online, they cannot see you online in their list. However, if they send you an IM, it will NOT say "user not online, message will be stored and delivered" This is a way they can see if you are online. If the groups you are in post the names of all of their members and the last login date, people who are joined in those groups with you can see if you are currently online. Another way a friend or foe may see if you are online is the 'Currently Online' status in your profile. I can't remember how to change this....I'll get back to you on it.
