One of my friends is having issues with his clothing. When he puts on undershirt or underpants layer on it appears black. Yesterday he put a vest on but when it rezzed his whole torso was black He filed a ticket with LL but because he's not Premium they wont help. Any ideas what this could be? Hi Clarissa - Yes it doesnt seem to matter where he is its always the same Thanks Rhaorth n Osprey I'll get him to try that...hope ya feel betta soon Rhaorth

Sometimes it's a skin or a shirt layer - but some items seem to trigger this.
I've noticed it more after an SL update - even if I didn't DL the update yet.
Sometimes just changing locations helps. Does it stay like that no matter where his av goes?
Other times it just goes away in a few days or so.
Some say it's the video card, but I dunno. For me it only happens around an update. Same card as ever, here. There are other threads about the video cards, although I don't know the titles.

He should try the usual:
*Try changing clothes in a water region and/or at a high altitude * Rebake textures (Ctrl-Alt-R) * Clear the cache, then restart the game * Uninstall, then reinstall and try again
Good luck!

don;t forget to turn off palletized textures too (check the forums for past posts about this, too sick to try to explain it all out or find the thread)

Isn't that the palletised textures thing?
Untick it in the debug menu: Advanced menu --> Rendering --> Features --> Palletized Textures
