Region not available on login?

I've recently run into a strange intermittent issue. I log in, with one of several accounts, expecting to appear in the last location that I logged off from. I get an error that the region is not available, and that I am being sent to another region (often Help Island Public). Yet I can immediately TP home or TP to the desired region. And in many cases I had another account already logged in and standing in the target location, so I *know* the sim I was trying to log into was up and available when the second account tried to log in. (Region was not even close to full. Maybe three people in the sim). The number of users on-line doesn't seem to be exceptionally high either. Like 34K on-line or so...

Sometimes I end up at my home location instead, even though that is the SAME SIM that I was trying to log in to! For example, I logged out while in the basement of my castle, and on login get the error and get redirected to my home point in my skybox, in the same sim.

This has been potentially embarrassing on a few occasions, when my last log out was while I was naked in my bedroom, and I rez in some strange sim, still naked! O^O! I have gotten into the habit of hovering my mouse near where the menu is for "Teleport Home", so if I start to rez in the wrong place, I can TP home before I finish rezzing.

I am not certain, but I think I have had it happen on both my computers. And I know it can happen when only one of my accounts is logging in, so it isn't a matter of the system resources being streached to thin by multiple logins on one computer.

Has anyone else been seeing this bogus "Region not available" message? Any ideas why it is happening?

The system I have seen this the most on is a Win XP system running the latest SL client. My other system, which I think I have also seen it on, is a Mac with the current version of OXS X Leopard (10.5) and the current SL client.

As a matter of fact, this very thing happened when I logged in just now. Home wasn't available, so I was logged in at Waterhead, but was immediately able to TP home.

Of course, I wasn't undressed or anything. But still.

SL has been pretty grumpy lately in a few ways. I've been seeing that issue to and have wound up in a number of different infohubs. Funny thing though, I've made a few new friends that way. (^_^)y

This just happened to me this morning. Upon login in I heard someone loudly talking about the state of soccer in the U.S. using voice. This would be very unusual on my building platform. Once the graphics caught up with the audio I found myself in a crowd of more than a dozen gray avis on some sort of info hub/ help island.

I assumed my region must be down (like you that is the message I got), but I tried to TP home and arrived without any trouble.

So, short answer - yes.

I've been seeing this frequently over the past several days. I log in, get told my home is unavailable and rez in my kitchen anyway.

And twice this morning I did get moved elsewhere and immediately ported home so it really is an incorrect message.

I had that the other day. I always log out from home, no matter what - was in the Hangout, tp'd home but found myself wandering around underneath the floor of the Hangout. Repeated attempts to TP resulted in the same outcome. So I logged out from that location.

Next day, I thought, aha, I won't go to "last location" as I normally do. So I logged in to "Home", promptly received a message that my home location was not available...

and the "nearby sim" or whatever the suggestion was, was underneath the floor of the Hangout.

Similar thing has been happening to me. I'll log, get the "your last location is not available. You have been moved to a nearby location" - and it really *is* nearby, like my building platform just 200m up from where I was *supposed* to log. Same region, same parcel, just a few hundred meters either up or down. Peculiar.

I noticed that once too... While the 'nearby sim' has usually been an infohub... There was one or two times it was somewhere around my last location. Considering I'm usually over 200M in the air whenever I log off, it made for a couple of "Why ain't anything rezzing?" situations. (=_=)

Thanks for the replies. Hadn't seen any other complaints here about it, so I was wondering if it was somehow just affecting me...

Guess I need to see if there is a JIRA ticket for this, or to create one to get it fixed.

*snickers* I had a really strange one with Trilliannas yesterday. I had logged out in the workshop the night before.. but logged in yesterday, go the "Your last location..." and was in my home. Which by the way is only a few meters from the workshop in the same sim.

Color me confused.

This has been happening on and off a little while. Can't help feeling it's the information that is normally stored of where we logged off is getting lost/not recorded and why we end up home or an info hub. Not that the region is unavailable, but the info on the region is.

Had this several times in the last 10 days or so. Bizarrely, when logging into home it has 2 or 3 times told me the region isn't available but then when I arrive I am on my home parcel, but not at the home spot.

Yup. Getting dressed before logout is a good idea, no matter how private the location is where you log off. I can imagine some of the people at the randomly selected Help Island could have been mighty surprised recently when one of my friends, who is an anthro stallion, unexpectedly appeared, naked, beside them. He had been serving his Mistress just before he logged out, and was wearing nothing but a bridle. :D

Fortunately, he was quick with the teleport button. I doubt they had time to register much of an impression of him, beyond "My! He's so... tall!"
