Question re: IW Boating

Hi All -

It is has been awhile! I have a quick question...if I purchase a speed boat or other watercraft, where exactly can I use it (aside from my own land)? Can I only boat in Linden protected waters? How do I know where to find them? Can I boat in private open waters without a group tag? Please enlighten me!

It will only work on Linden water.
That is different from prim water.

You can find it around islands (obviously), but also in sims where the ground level is so low that the ground is below the sims water level.

And of course you need to have the right to rez and use scripts, or you can't rez your boat or are not able to use it.

You can rezz a boat in my group's land in
- SE corner of Eldfell sim
- SE corner of Nebo sim
These are both beside extensive Linden ocean sims
There are Linden protected channels leading out of these oceans in all directions.
You can go right around the edge of Corsica continent on Linden water.

The Nebo site is a good one as a start point of a journey South from Corsica into Nautilus continent

This is near the Northern end of the 30-sim Linden Korean Channel - with Ichelus Island and Volcano to the South.

Search for Starboard in (or near) Hollywood for a good place to rez a boat near lots of open water.

If you're ever in the mood for some scenic boating through estate islands, try the estates owned by the FairChangs. There's a lot of water, numerous draw bridges, and several places to rez a boat. You could rez one at my shop (SLurl below), but the Ferry Building across the water from my store is a nice build and a great launching place. (It's in FairChang Vista SE. I'm not certain you can rez there or not now, but I think you can.) There's an island with a lighthouse and free boats, but my under-caffeinated brain isn't remembering which island. 'FairChang Island' is a sandbox, so you can rez there too. And plenty of other locations.

Yes, you'll find a lot of great places to cruise in sl. One of my favorites is the OTHERLAND group of sims, many boat owners rez in the Quan Li sim there and cruise through a large group of connected sims with no banlines anywhere.

One more thing you might consider in purchasing a boat. The many yachts, speedboats and jetskis I sell at VIRGIN ISLE MARINA all have a special simline crossing script so you don't have that awful sinking under the water experience most other boats have as you cross from one sim into the next. This makes for a much more pleasant boating experience as you explore sl waterways.

The Cartel hangout in Allanna has a plenty of water to boat in.
