I really i'm in some kind of trouble. I have a 512 s q plot in mainland. Notiers. Yesterday i bought 4096 in an island, i made a group and deed to that group 1000 s m. I thought that mainland and island were apart. I went to check my acount and my tier to LL has raisen to 8 USD ?????????????

Now what do i do? Well i undeed the all thing, took tha land out of the group but i still have 8 usd of tiers in my account. Boy i'm introuble. I can´t pay both tiers, but i wanted to keep that small 512 sq in mainland :(

You are stuck for this month, unless you can call billing and convince them you made a mistake.

If you are donating private island land to a group, you don't have to contribute tier to the group. That's where you went wrong. You didn't just donate the land to the group, but you clicked on the Contribute checkmark. That indicated LL that you were donating tier to the group. And yes, you're stuck with the $8 this time. Make sure you go into the group information window, click on the Land tab and remove your tier donation.

After you buy the land, you have to set the land to group and you get 2 choices below the group name. 1) Deed land to group and below it, 2) Contribute towards deed
Once you click on the ckeckmarks, you have to click the DEED button.
Number 2 is so that when you deed land to group and if the group doesn't have enough tier contributions, it may lose the land donated. But this contribution is NOT necessary when deeding land from a private island. I'm sure a lot of people have made this mistake and are paying double tier, to the island owner AND to Linden Labs.

This is kind of confusing really. You don't need to contribute land to a group on island land but it's not really clearly explained when you deed land.

If you want to remove the tier, go to your Land information for that group and remove the 1000 metres you donated manually there.

You want to remove the donation as soon as possible.

It is not something you "uncheck" now - you remove the contribution in the Land and L tab of group info. Make sure the amount contributed IS what you want to contribute.

Hi Tary,

Open up the group information and look at the "Land & L$" tab. The upper area shows the group land details. If the 1024 parcel is island land it should have "0/1024" in the Area column. The 0 means no land credits are needed for it. Mainland will have just one number, that actual area of the land.

Under that is a section detailing contributions. If you have contributed 1000 sq m to the group and it is island land (which needs no contribution) then that section should look something like this (assuming the 1024 plot is the only group land):

Total Contribution: 1100 sq. meters
Total Land in Use: 0 sq. meters
Land Available: 1100 sq. meters
Your Contribution: 1000 sq. meters (xxxx max)

Where the 1000 is in an edit box. There is a 10% bonus on land credits donated to a group, hence the Total Contribution of 1100.

If this is the case, just change the 1000 to 0 and you will be fine. You may want to go to the SL website under your account and click on the Land Use Fees section and set yours to the lowest radio button.

On estate (island) land, even if you check "Owner makes contribution with deed" it won't put land credits in for island land, it is smart enough to know none are needed (I just did this on some island land I own and it didn't take any land credits.)

yes Kevyn it was exactly what it said in the land Tab of the group, I set the land to zero in the group and did that too in the land fees on the SL web site. I hope this will drop the 8 USD tier :(,

Thanks so much

If you look in your account information, it will still show $8 until the end of the current pay period. That will change to $0 after that. Make sure now though, to click on the Land Use Fees link. The Square meter owned and Square Meters Donated is all 0.

Please remember you have to go *to* the land use fees section of the website and change your tier selection back down to $0 once you have undonated your tier. It doesnt do it automatically for you. Make sure to do it asap so after your payment it doesnt stay at the higher price.

Actually your payment is based upon the amount of land you actually own, not the specific button you have clicked. All that lowering the button does is reset the warning for when you need to tier up again. If you do not own land after the "Next bill date" and it does not reset to 0, time to call Billing Support and have them correct the error.

As pointed out by Calveen, there is a section on the "My Account" page called "Land Holdings". Here is where you well see the amount you will be charged. Notice also as he said the $8 won't go away until the next billing date. Your payment during a billing cycle is based upon your peak holdings during that cycle, not on which radio button is pushed.

So, even if you sell the land and set the tier level to 0 it will not become 0 until after the "Next Bill Date". And one reason why if you are buying land you want to know when your billing date is. If you buy land the day before your billing date you still get charged a whole month's tier despite the fact you only owned it for one day.

Livewise, you can go in and set the tier to the maximum of up to a whole sim, and you won't be charged anything until you actually purchase land (and even then based upon the amount you purchase, not in which radio button is pushed.)

Thank you all for your answers. I was really tired yestarday and did not thank you for helping.

I did all that was said here. Undeeded the land, uncheck the boxes and go to the land use fees section of the of the website and set it to 0.

Today i also submited a ticket on this subject in billing support because i don't think its correct that LL double charges fees, estate should never count to land fees for mainland regardless the check boxes. Lets see if i get an answer and what is it :(

Well i'm going to browse the foruns now and see if someone is offering chocolate cake :) , i sure can eat some ot that
