Computer won't work now with SL

Since the new upgrade my computer just won't work SL anymore. I played it for an hour and then crashed. It won't even let me log into the main screen anymore. I tried shutting my computer down and restarting, that did not work. I tried reinstalling and it only lasted 5 min. and then crashed and it just won't let me on it keeps saying I have crashed and ask if I want to send a report. I have played SL fine until this update. Now I don't think I can play it again and I just opened a shop...can't afford another computer now or to fix this one.....just wondering if anyone has had this happen to them tonight???

No it hasn't happened to me and I have a crappy PC. It would help if you post your PC specs.

It's always good to supply information about your computer system when asking folks for help with problems.
One way to get some of this info easily is to do Help About Second Life, then highlight the system specs it shows, press control C, and paste them into the text box here with Control V.
One thing to try is to uninstall SL, then delete the folders with the cache and settings, then reinstall SL. I'd also turn off the modem and the router and turn them back on.
Also exactly what version of SL are you running?

Hmmm I just dl the new viewer.. not windlight.. and cannot log in. I instantly get the Despite Our Best Efforts message.

Another thing to try anytime you install a new version of SL and have problems is to tell your anti-virus, anti-spy, firewall, and other security software to leave SL alone.

Thanks everyone and SuezanneC....I did reinstall SL and had taken everything out. Its working but not the best I left before I crashed. I was moving all wrong and the colors on my face were going blurry so thought I had better go just left my friends messages just in case. I will try what you suggested. Its just that my computer ran so great right before the update. I am so mad at myself for installing it. Thanks again though.

I have noticed that system memory usage with the new viewer has gone up almost 200% during the startup/login rez everything process. >:[
This might be a problem for some residents if their computers are a bit out of date.
edit: Once everything has rezzed, it drops back down but still higher then previous viewer.
