Using Different Radio Stations

Hello Everyone,

I have a newbie question regarding radios.

I recently rented a dwelling for the first time. The owner of the area sim provides one radio station that I only barely like. Some time ago, a friend gave me a radio that has about ten different stations. I would like to only use my friend's radio stations and stop hearing the sim's radio station. What is the best way of accomplish this, if possible?

Thanks,

The "radio station" is a per-parcel setting. To answer your question properly, we need to know:

* Do you "own" the parcel?
* Is the parcel "group owned"? Are you a member of that group with the right to change the mdia URL?
* Has the landlord allowed changing of the parcel's streaming URL?

Chances are you have the ability to change the URL yourself. Just stand on your parcel, and click near the top of the SL window where your parcel's name is located to bring up a parcel properties dialog box. Click on the "Media" tab and there you should be able to type in your favorite 'net radio URL.

Radios

Heya! Since you are renting the land, you probably can't change the land media url. Radio's work quite well. First you have to rezz the radio and edit it. Look in the contents tab and there "should" be a notecard with the radio stations programmed into the radio. Open the notecard (I suggest you copy it and save it for a later time too JUST in case) and edit the notecard to put in your favorite stations. Save the notecard and Reset the radio. Then since you rent, you will have to deed the radio to the land. Talk to your land owner about how to do this the correct way for your sim. I have a notecard on it, so if you'd like it, IM me in world. Just be warned.. I've seen radio wars happen if you are too close to the neighbors since anyone in the group can change your radio settings.

Hope this kind of helped? I just went through this about a week ago.

On the apartments & parcels I have rented, with two different landlords, I've always had access to the media tab on the land options, so check that first. You could also IM the landlord and ask whether this is an option you have access to.

Even when you are renting the landlord has the ability to give you the rights to change the radio station on the parcel of land you rent. As long as you are not in a multifloor highrise where several units are stacked over the same piece of land.

Help! Radio permissions driving me nuts

I revived this discussion from a search, because this issue is giving me fits.

Isn't there a way I can set up a central radio that multiple tenants stacked on top of one another can share? The radios I bought for this require the tenant to deed it to the land. So basically each tenant has to have their own radio. I don't mind the expense, but it's a waste of 20 prims when only one radio can be heard at once anyway.

I don't want the tenants to be able to change the media settings in the land tab, because I have common areas, beaches and parks, in the group land that I don't want changed.

Any help will be most appreciated! Thanks -- Avion
