I was doing the rubber band walk in my own home which has very few scripts other than a light switch and no one else around. Frustrating.

Wow, it isn't just me? It's horrible, especially since it had to hit when I decided to go hair shopping.

It seems as though there is a "perfect storm" brewing. LL have made a number of design decisions in recent months that all appear to contribute to lag.
1. Emphasizing Mono: Mono is the open-source version of Microsoft's .NET technology, which seeks to make software code "safe" by interposing an additional layer of code between the operating system and individual software programs. This additional layer slows things down significantly. 2. The 1.27 server seems to have issues. 3. The 1.23.4 viewer has major bugs that induce client-side lag. Unlike previous viewer releases, the 1.23.4 was rushed into production primarily to implement LL's schedule for getting the adult-content changes done. They knowingly released an inferior viewer rather than extend that deadline. It seems likely that when your viewer lags, its communication with the LL server lags, and, therefore, other avs on the same sim who are waiting for the server to get done talking with your viewer in order to provide them with updated info about your av, also experience lag. All three of these things appear to be working together to cause massive slowdowns. Sadly, software companies make these kinds of boneheaded decisions all the time. They rarely publicly acknowledge them. Somewhat less rarely, they eventually fix them--but certainly not always. Often they just say, "Well, the next generation of faster hardware will make this problem go away." |

It is the weekend. Probably a cron job failed to clear some db logs.

It is the weekend. Probably a cron job failed to clear some db logs. Weekend slowdowns do occur, but people have been reporting slower framerates, and more frequent rubberbanding and freezing for well over a month. I suspect as more people adopt the 1.23.4 viewer these reports will increase. |

And, the fact that it appears to be worse today than it has been these past few weeks makes me glad I have a paper due on Monday that I still need to write. It'll keep me from going street-rat-crazy screaming at the SL viewer and expanding my kids' vocabulary! ![]() _____________________

On my pre-windlight viewer, I experienced some minor chat lag today. Movement was ok, but my main aggravation was not being able to change info in scripts. Kept getting an asset server failure message.

The last few days were hell, and last night was a nightmare.
Rubber banding, huge chat lag, banging into walls, missing doors and stairs like a noob in their first five minutes in SL, significant delays before scripts kick in,..... Strange things going in in Inventory. Has anyone noticed increased memory leak in the latest viewer (Windows)? _____________________
