Yep. I will try not to outgrow my tin foil hat (TM) by assuming it's a purposeful attack. But, looks like my land has been griefed.
It isn't the first time - one reason I do not put links here or in my profile. But, in specific, there seems to be phantom objects littering my land.
I can't find some of them. I found 3 LOLcubes that vanished after I had clicked to see whose they were. Some other objects are in the object owners list in the land tab, I assume they are in the clouds. They must also be set to Phantom.
So my questions are: What can happen by clicking on an item to see who made it? What type of object would then just vanish? How do I find the remaining objects?
Auto return is at 2, and Objects show only as being owned by me or the group. It isn't until I click "object owners" that 2 other names show up, one owning 5 things and one owning 2. That does not count the 3 LOLcubes that vanished upon being edit/clicked, then edit closed. Those had the same owner name as the 2 as yet unfound objects.
I'll upload and include two pix in a moment. Thanks in advance for any help.

Okay here is a pic of weird blue lines that glow white when I hit 'show owner' in the land tab next to 'parcel owner.' But I didn't rez these and they can't be clicked upon. http://www.flickr.com/photos/29408371@N07/3902818941They were also right next to the LOLcubes that were definitely not rezzed by me and showed as owned by someone else. http://www.flickr.com/photos/29408371@N07/3902818249

Were you next to the LOL cubes when you went into edit on them. Sometimes if your a distance away and you go to edit an item it will "appear" to disappear. They really don't its just a SL issue that does it. If you get closer it may pop up.
I'd go to world/region estate/debug/top scripts and check to see if anything is out of the ordinary. Sometimes an object could be rezzing an object or objects at various intervals to circumvent your auto return which would cause you to never be able to return all the items.
The other is about land and just look for any ones objects that aren't suppose to be on your land.
If you've done all that then you could perhaps check using your various beacon options. You may be able to track down an emitting object, or a sound making object or whatever the griefing object is with the appropriate beacon.
Good luck it doesn't sound fun .

Thanks and yes I was right in front of the cubes and they did disappear. They are not in Objects or Object Owners. I found 2 more objects which accounts for the 2 objects by that same owner as the cubes. (If the other 3 cubes were still there, it would be 5 owned by them.)
Still looking for the 5 by person # 2.

Update - the 2 other LOLcubes have vanished from the "owned objects" list.
Curiouser and curiouser.

More info - I think Texan was right the LOLcubes might be temporary. Don't know.
I found the 5 other objects - they are the blue lines. When I click the name listed as their owner in the "object owners" list, they light up. Oddly, in the Objects tab they also light up when I click "show" next to "parcel owner."
These are NOT my objects nor is that person (owner or creator) the parcel owner, obviously.
The following scripts are in the content tab (I was finally able to click on the very thin lines):
ABCDEsounds 'AD ABBranR3 abcd abcd1 Apc BRan
---
The blue lines are named "bullet" which is the same name the LOLcubes had, which makes me think maybe Texan's right and the lines rez the cubes.
A different person's name is listed as creator and owner on the 5 blue lines and on the cubes.
---
Weird, huh?
I don't want to click 'return' since they are listed as parcel owner's objects. (Still not sure how that happened or what it means.) I do NOT want these things in my inventory.

Hmm i can be wrong here
But the blue lines look like tracers that a certain type of gun rezzes when it gets fired. I think the name of the object "bullet" indicates that too.

From: Clarissa Lowell Auto return is at 2 As well as autoreturn, I recommend setting your land to "no build" and "no object entry" until you sort out this problem.

Ah! the chanting BatMan cubes. I think that you should either return or DELETE them. If you can't, they might be stuck in an "easement zone" that is partially in another plot. Are they still making noise? IIRC they were always very loud and irritating. As to the tracer bullets, yes return or delete them too.

From: SJackB Northman Source for a visitor logging script, Please? Thanks! I'm partial to the free scripts from Alicia Stella designs. This package contains a visitor tracker, though I can't remember whether it tracks names or just numbers. https://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=275571I also found a couple of free visitor trackers on XStreet that do track avatar names, but it's been ages, so you'll have to do a search there to find what's current.

I've seen bullets stay in an area longer than expected on high lag sims. However, I wouldn't imagine that they would stay for an extended amount of time. Usually a bullet is set to temporary, or will auto die. I've seen them stay for a very long time in some sims when the bullet is crossing a sim line. They seem to just get stuck there sometimes and just hangout for a while LOL. They're usually easy to just right click and return though.

/me would bet money that these are temp objects.
Lately, last couple months or so, I've noticed that some do not seem to be automatically deleted by the sim after a minute but will poof if you right-click them. A right-click forces a full object update - maybe that's what wakes the sim up.
Temp objects are also notorious for showing up under the wrong owner in About Land.

Set your parcel to disable allow object entry, turn the scripts to off for non-group members. The objects are probably set to temp that is why they don't show on the object listing.

The borkiness of temp rez objects aside.
If you have people in your neighbourhood who pop off guns, and this is whats happened here, then its best to set your own land to Allow Object Entry AND set Auto-return. If the parcel next to you allows Object Entry AND Auto-return is not set on that parcel AND Object Entry is not allowed onto your parcel, then you're going to end up with a big pile junk along your boundary on the neighbour's side. Something you wont be able to do anything about. Only your neighbour can, assuming they log in and care to clean it up. So, let the bullets move onto your land so they can be auto-returned by you.
Auto-returning stuff to the shooters inventory is the best way to discourage people from shooting toward your parcel when they're using crappy bullets that aren't temp or scripted to die.

Thanks for all the replies. I truly appreciate it.
The blue lines and LOL cubes were both named "bullet" although the blue lines stayed and the LOLcubes seemed temporary, although they (cubes) did not vanish until clicked on and then 'build/edit' mode closed again.
The blue lines did not seem temporary - I think they were thin lines because those are less visible. However it's odd since the LOLcubes obviously drew attention upward which is when I noticed the lines too.
I have the other parcels nearby except some lots that say 'rental' but have not been for sale for months (I've even asked to buy them but no reply from the owners) and some land on the other side I recently sold. It's probably someone random, who rezzed the stuff on an empty parcel, and slid it over. But what's odd is the empty parcels have auto return at 10.
Someone did also recently buy land near the road and put particle poofers and a huge flamingo on it. The particles extend wayyy past their land. Also some other empty lots nearby have all manner of junk on them, from plywood cubes of various creators, to a big toilet in mid air, a motorcycle, etc. I've tried IMing the owners of those lots just to let them know, since some of those lots are for sale, and I can't imagine that adds curb appeal. (No response, and the junk remains there.)
The lots there probably get a lot of passers-by since it's near a hub and road.
I do have a visitor script and I will put that in. Good idea. Any other ideas please post. And thanks again.
