Startup Screen - Info gone?

Okay so maybe its just me but I can't find anything about this anywhere.

When I start the SL Viewer I used to have the last 3 or 4 blog post headers on the screen, and an RSS feed at the top right.

I used these all the time. It kept me up to date on the goings on in SL and often provided valuable information.

Since my upgrade to the new viewer this information is gone. I get the online status and the number of avatars online but thats it.

I've poured over the preferences in the viewer looking for a way to turn this on and cannot find it.

I've searched the forums for this but I must be using the wrong search criteria because I get nothing from my searches.

I've read a huge amount of information about bug fixes and the like on the blog post about the new viewer and cannot find this mentioned either.

So, I now have multiple pretty pictures when I start the viewer but no useful information. Bummer.

Is this universal? Or is it just me? Is there any way to get this information back?

/me is not happy with change. LOL

Thanks all,
FaTeke

Yeah, they apparently simplified the start-up screen, and made no announcements about it. Everyone on the 1.20.15 client sees the new screen with less info.

I have the status on an RSS feed and the blog bookmarked. The startup screen was redundant. I always just entered my info and logged in without a glance at the rest of the clutter anyway. *shrugs*

It is expected to be back, once they figure out what they're doin' with the image.

Thank you for that Marianne.
I'm very glad to hear it, something seems missing for me now every time I log in.

While some may have ignored it, as did many of my friends, I found it very helpful.

Cheers

Yer welcome: I miss 'em too.

Here's what little information I could find:

From: http://torley.com/new-second-life-login-screen-welcomes-change
WORTH KNOWING: the news feeds aren’t gone forever, so stay tuned for worthwhile changes. In the meantime, click the “Second Life Grid Status” link and logo in the upper-right to get to the Status Reports page.

I personally find it useful to have that information front and center. Doubly so given they sneak policy changes into dat blog.

every update they change the user interface so if theres something you like im sure they will change it soon.
why cant they make it user modifiable? why cant we skin our own, make our own hot keys?
it would be so easy to build if we had hot keys....
i dont know why i waste my time talking about this.. sorry

I'd wondered about this, too. I always used to at least skim over everything before clicking the Connect button.

Glad to hear it's going to return.

you tell 'em, lightwave.

actually, isnt there a jira to vote for on that?

meanwhile, back on topic... sorta. the other thing that bugs me is... when i get to secondlife.com, and it recognizes me (ie: im logged in), that little news box isn't shown. i used to like to read the little sl news articles once in a while. then i had to log out to even find it. i dont know if its even still there any more. (then again, maybe its all bad news these days!)

I haven't missed a thing. I use an RSS reader.
