Which new release do you mean? Regular or Release Candidate? Not very techy, but 'bump'.

Is that the new mandatory upcoming update? Every one who responded to blog complained about the same thing. I am not looking forward to the new update because its mandatory and everyone says it makes people crash. Lot of people who posted on the official blog said they shouldn't make such a unstable update mandatory.

Well, for the moment, stick to the regular viewer, (I know it sucks when you're used to pretty skies and such). At least you'll be able to log in. As FD mentioned, some people are experiencing probs with this release, but since it isn't mandatory to use Candidate viewers (only there to pick up on bugs), you have another potion. I'm not having any huge problems for now, only one with my Recent Tab in my inventory, very minor. Keep in mind that it's Saturday...

If you have not done so, don't just clear the cache but find the second life folder at C:\Documents and Settings\"name"\Application Data\SecondLife and delete the entire folder. There are files there which remain through cache clearing and even thru an uninstall/reinstall. Worth a try.
My daughter was having trouble of a similar vein, the difference being she was getting the "driver out of date" error, and I finally just had to reinstall XP. Something had become so messed up with the vid drivers that an XP repair was not even possible, it just stuck in an install loop when it came to the driver install. I had never seen that before then, but it took a format and reinstall to get past it. The funny thing is that SL was the only program that would not start and run.
