Being generally optimistic, it takes a while for my brain to get round to something like this, but I was hoping some more learned forum reader could help explain...
How is it that with the new search and WindLight being implemented, and the concentration on the new bugs, refinements and problems that they both cause, the LL focus can be said to be on stability?
I'm ok with believing "it's a priority" internally, but then so is the new search, WindLight, and the apparently web page based login system heading our way. Is there some Wiki page somewhere that I haven't found that explains that 60% of Dev time is spent on stability and 40% on the other new issues? Or that, all the useful Dev time that can be applied to stability has been applied, and with the spare hours floating about, they are concentrating on the new features?
Old old question I know, but I was just hoping someone who hung around SLDev or some of the meetings might have something optimistic to say.

Simple answer is that I think both Windlight and the new (Google) search were largely contracted out.
Also, long term projects don't just stop, even if LL has made a strategic decision to focus (its future manpower) on stability issues.

The 60%/40% is Linden math, it's not supposed to make sense or reflect reality . All the time spent on things like Havok 4 probably counts as bug-fixing time, since it's supposed to "fix" a number of current physics bugs. Things like WindLight also introduce a whole number of bugs of their own that currently work perfect in the main viewer, so fixing all the bugs LL introduces with anything new probably counts as bug-fixing as well even though nothing actually changes from our perspective. What LL thinks is an "annoying bug" wildly varies from what we think is an "annoying bug" as well (and even different categories of people have wildly varying ideas on that). The bugs that personally annoy me the most are probably things that will never get fixed (just look at how long it took them to readd the minimize button on the inventory window and that just involved changing a "false" to "true" .
