Hey everyone,

I'm relatively new to SL, I played it for a week a few years ago but now I've gotten back into it. I have a problem though, that I haven't had before.
I have all my streaming audio settings on, and I click the play buttons on the bottom of the screen but I never hear any music, when I know that there is music that should be playing, like at a club or something. Everyone else says they can hear it, so I know that there is suppose to be music, I just can't hear it. I've tried relogging, restarting my computer, everything, but it doesn't seem to play.

I am running linux. Ubuntu 8.04 32bit, if that makes a difference.

thanks everyone!

Do you have music turned down in the audio settings on bottom right of screen?

And videos do not work either? Might check your pc control panel for something being disabled. Does voice work for you? Have you updated your Quicktime recently?

I have to ask - are your speakers plugged in to the computer? Can you hear sounds from other things on the computer outside of SL?

Is your streaming music enabled? Go to Edit>Preferences>Audio/Video and make sure that Play Streaming Music is checked. If that is checked then you should have the Play button active at the bottom of your viewer. Hit play and you should have music. If not, then you probably have some issues outside of SL.

I know that some people will lose music and have to relog and that will fix their issue, but it sounds like this has been a running issue with and that probably won't help much.

I've had a lot of people tell me they can't hear music with the Linux client.

Try logging out and back in again - this can sometimes force a pick up of a sound stream.

Also- some sound streams have a limit it seems - so if there are more than, say 20 avs, then some can't receive the stream feed.
