I'm on a trip with no computer just my iphone and would like to respond to an inworld message. I seem to remember someone telling me about a way to log into just chat on an iPhone, does anyone know how?

Only way to just chat is SLim, and from what I heard it's wonky at best. No idea if you can install it on an iphone.

I think accessing Second Life via ajaxlife.net works via iPhone...

I use ajaxlife.net on a small laptop that cannot handle SL (<1 GB RAM). ajaxlife.net is just a regular web page. I saw someone in an airport using what looked like ajaxlife on an iPhone.

Tap the sender's name in the email app, choose Send Email to start a reply. Type in your reply and hit send. Usually works. I think there's a time limit for how long that user's "email address" from IM is valid.

I do this quite often to reply to customer IMs from my iPod Touch when away from my regular computer.

Since posting pics in the forum is hit or miss, I'll describe the steps best I can.

1. Find the email you want to reply to in your inbox and touch it.
2. At the very top, it will say From: followed by the avatar's name in a blue button with a right-arrow next to it.
3. Touch the button with the avatar's name and you go to a screen that allows you several options (under the assumption you might want to add that person to your contacts).
4. Under the blank picture box and person's name and (really long) email address, the first white button should say Email.
5. Click the white Email button and you're taken to the screen where you can type in a reply. The To: section will probably say "1 Recipient". Skip the subject and start typing in your message in the body area.
6. When done, hit the Send button at the top. Email sent!

(And I think though the PC version of ajaxlife is working, the iPhone version is still down.)

*Bump*

Go to the app store and check out Sparkle IM. Just released native iPhone app that allows in-world IM, chat, etc.

if you've received an offline IM you can just reply to it like an email but only for a limited time (I think within 3 days). There is also the sparkle IM app and zonkster as potential options:

http://www.zonkster.com/index.htm

fyi with zonkster you don't really need the code it will just send as an unconfirmed message.
