Wow.. I'm impressed that LL has done this. Could this be the return of Linden Answers?? edit: posting a howdy to Jack got me this message: From: someone Thank you for posting! You will now be taken to your post. If the administrator has selected to moderate all posts in this forum, you will be taken back to the forum and your post will be displayed presently. If you opted to post a poll, you will now be allowed to do so.

Since I haven't seen my post show up and was taken to the forum, I'm guessing this new forum is under moderation. If it's what it takes to bring back Linden Answers, I'm all for Fist-of-God style moderation.

I agree! The forums are a valuable tool for communication and they were wasting this resource. Maybe LL is going to finally start listening?

Hm.. It's vanished already. :\ I'd bet that it's hidden from non-mods as they get it set up correctly..
IIRC, the description wasn't Jack-in-general (ie, the ad-farm-forum) but was more dedicated to LDPW stuff. Also, it was a sub-forum under the blog pseudo-forum so I guess I'm not surprised they're still setting up..

Now I saw "Mainland Discussion with Jack Linden" - I think there are a couple of Jack forums that are going to roll out. The first was LDPW, this one is mainland.... looks like a Land subgroup is in the making. Very good.

..and comments closed on the blog post, too. More one-way communication.
Zoning. Huh. I am right with everyone who rails against ad farms and ugly builds, but...
Our rental sim includes both residential and commercial areas. You can live in Lebettu and sell your products there too. We have a club for parties, as well, high in the air where it bothers no one's privacy or naptime.
All of this is (in my humble opinion) very tastefully done and all in 1/2 sim.
How will LL's zoning affect my build? Well, I will stay tuned for developments.

From: Lindal Kidd How will LL's zoning affect my build? Well, I will stay tuned for developments. I expect that they're not going to touch (or touch lightly) existing mainland and ramp up a few more continents that start off being zoned.

From: Meade Paravane I expect that they're not going to touch (or touch lightly) existing mainland and ramp up a few more continents that start off being zoned. At the same time, I could see them wanting to move towards some sort of zoning of existing plots, perhaps when they're "reclaimed" on old mainland. There is a great amount of existing blight out there that makes some areas of mainland challening for their residents. If they approach it right, it could work. Will they approach it right, though? I tossed up a bunch of questions on the Jack forum.

It did seem like he was posting in a 'going forward' sort of way. But I too would be interested in knowing what they intend to do about some of the messes that already exist...like the one outside my walls in Nadata.

From: Marianne McCann At the same time, I could see them wanting to move towards some sort of zoning of existing plots, perhaps when they're "reclaimed" on old mainland.. That could be but I think it'll be harder than it sounds. With a whole new continent, it's not hugely difficult - a continent is, sorta by definition, isolated and you can set up continent-wide rules more easily because you're starting with a blank slate. With existing mainland, I'd bet that they're reclaiming fairly smallish parcels. They may be able to establish new rules for those parcels without much hassle but there's nothing that says the other people in the region are going to abandon their land, not to mention neighbor sims..

From: Macphisto Angelus Can we pull out your "It's official, the blog sucks" post again now. I wish! But it's true Great for announcements, sucking void for actual communication Edit to add: I'd rather see visual muting before they start zoning. One gives us control and lessens LL's work load. The other increases LL's workload majorly. Of course, it begs whether or not LL can police and enforce their policies.
