A way to stop Camera Bouncing, or lock a camera at a certain distance?

I'm to a point where this camera makes me dizzy every time I back into an object that's mid-back level and the camera bounces back and forth, back and forth, back and forth...it's ridiculous. I also think it's stupid that if I select to zoom on myself, I can't find a way to lock my camera in a position (say...birds eye view, maybe) and move about like that.
So my questions stand at this...
Is there a way that you can make your camera lock at a certain distance and stay there, REGARDLESS of what items exist around you?
If you use a stationary camera, could you attach behind you (attached to maybe the head or something) and make it phantom?
Is there any way to make your camera go through non-phantom objects so it doesn't get me sick every time I have my back against something?

Try cntrl-0 and cntrl-9 to zoom your camera in and out.
Not sure about the bouncing - annoys the heck out of me, too

Tried that, doesn't work...it zooms further in but nothing to stop the bouncing.
This pisses me off...why in god's name cant you set the camera at a certain position to follow you and have it stay there? This can't be that hard. Instead of resetting itself to that default point, it should be able to have it stay where I tell it, and NOT have it correct itself in the case of objects. I can fix my cam if that happens, I don't need the game doing it for me.

I'm pretty sure there is a JIRA on this issue. Until it is fixed in the viewer, there is nothing that can be done to stop it. It's friggin annoying.. like Wayne's World EXTREME CLOSEUP

The bouncing has been happening, along with other things that have been broken, since Havoc4. I've gotten into the habit of taking a step forward when it happens. The camera position not staying locked where you set it has never worked for me in the more than 2 years that I have been in SL. I gave up even trying on this one. Just things that you can add to the "not hard" to fix list that seem to be beyond the ability of LL to fix.

Look for camera HUDs

If search around SL, you will find HUDs that will lock the camera on your AV, some of them are free and full permed so you can make any adjustments you need.

Wear a prim with camera controls built in. I'm at work or I'd just script it up for you

Torley has a set of free follow cams - you could try those.

:0 not inworld to doublecheck prefs, but i think it's called 'camera distance' in preferences - set it to 0 maybe. i had to do that to keep from being so bouncy too. (distance does not seem to work/set right when avatar is walking, only when flying, is that correct? same for pc (i'm on mac)?)
