For about two or three months now, all of my SL friends show up as being in 'Object' when I've used the Friends Online page. 'Object' shows as the sim name whenever I hover over the friend's name on the page, like this:
secondlife://Object/235/129
I can track them on the Map when I'm inworld without any problems; it's just the Friends Online page that renders their location like that. Anyone else having this problem, or is it just another example of b0rkiness on SL's part?

From: Nectere Niven I found its generally because they are above 768m That's not true. It has been like that for months, long before you were able to build above that height. Unless they were just hanging out floating around at that height there would have been no reason for them to be above that height.

Looks like http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-609From: WEB-609 Friends online is now showing "object" as region Since H4 avatar cordinates are correct but locations for people you have mapping on now show as secondlife://Object/161/37 I checked with the person inworld and they were neither in a sim called "object" nor were they sitting or standing on anything called object, please fix

From: Nectere Niven I found its generally because they are above 768m In this case, it's not. I was in my skybox at approx 550m and my partner told me his Friends Online was showing me as being in the ubiquitous 'Object'. @Sindy: Thanks for that JIRA link. I'll go and vote on it now. Now that I think back, it did seem to start happening at the same time as the Havok4 rollout.
