I was asked to let someone into Builders of Second Life to ask for help with the following problem:

They own a sim, and have built all over it. They have some purchased no-copy items in the build as well.

They need to clear the sim in one day to start a build to be up 3 weeks or so.

Then they want to return the entire sim to the previous state.

This doesn't sound to me like a one day job. They are familiar with the concept of "select everything in the entire sim and take it all into inventory at one time". This doesn't seem too secure to them, and it doesn't sound real good to me either.

There are said to be libsecondlife programs that can do whole sim backups. I can't remember the exact name of one or who it is by, and whether they are really available and actually work, including the restoration.

Anyone have any help to offer with that?

a) screenshot all estate settings

b) Grab a .raw file

c) save ground textures

d) sell as much as possible to one avatar

e) Rez Foo all the stuff they made themselves

f) add a positioning script to everything mod/no copy so it goes back (trivial to write)

g) write down locations of all no/mod no copy stuff.

That's pretty much it, and as expected.

IF they could get away with it, simply roll back 3 weeks to MM DD YY. But I don't think that's a valid reason for a rollback and would probably be denied.

Maybe that could be a chargeable service that LL could offer.
- US$x to back up your sim at your own tagged checkpoints
- US$y per month/megabyte to store the backups
- Restore from one of your list of backups at will
