Why did the Gaeta auctions stop?

Have I missed something? Suddenly, after more and more sims being auctioned each day, there are no more, even though not all of Gaeta is sold. Is this becuase the price dropped below US$1000? Or is it a pause for reconsideration by the new CEO? Or did the sky finally fall?

Wow mainland sims costing less than a private island, that can't be good.

Exactly. That is the point. I've been in SL for almost 2 years now, and I've noticed, having survived 4 land dump inspired mainland market crashes, that whatever the price of a new private sim is in SL, LL never lets a crash go more than .1 or so below that. I don't understand why, as private sims still have the drawback of the higher tier rate, compaired to mainland, but for some reason, that is the way they play it.

No mention of anything on the blog yet there are no US$ plots available for auction. Something is wrong with full sim auctions. Winners over the last few days were not getting their sims right away after payment. Of course we all have to guess what's up because of LL's continued horrendously lacking communication skills.

If the machine I used to make money went down, I would tell my paying customers why.

I think island sims were in higher demand and LL was struggling to meet that demand. So rather than have a long queue of angry customers, LL just increased the price of the islands in order to reduce the demand.

I was one who got caught-up in the Auctions system bottleneck this week (little L$ auction), so it may be "technical difficulties," but I kinda hope not. Not that I care what happens to land prices, but it would make me feel all warm and fuzzy to believe LL has its finger sufficiently on the pulse of the market to realize that right now there's just no demand for the Mainland already on the map. Lots of reasons for that, of course.

I think LL ran out of Mainland and Island servers.

Looks like all the auctions (both USD and Linden) have come to a virtual halt and not a peep to be heard. Nothing on the blog, the status page, or twitter. Is the Linden auction guy on vacation, did Ebay break, and where's the resident communications manager to keep us informed?

Katt Linden in a blog comment: I’m checking on the auction system.

Sad that it takes us asking about it in a comments section to get them moving on giving us info.

$US auction page is back up with six sims listed and no explanation of why it was closed for two days.

it could very likely be security issues, if it was we were promised an explanation a couple of days ago, when the issue is resolved, if they remember, if they weren't just bullshitting us.
