I've had a HUD vanish from my screen for some reason. It is not in my inventory (I've cleared cache multiple times) and the owner of the land I was on at that moment has not found it. I've contacted the seller, who has no idea what could have happened, but insists things do not disappear from SL in that way.

Is it possible that I slid it off screen by accident somehow, and if so how would I retrieve it?

Any ideas are welcome. I'm stumped.

Thanks all.... :)

I've done the "slide stuff offscreen" trick before and discovered, when it landed in my Lost and Found folder that it had travelled over 3 sims.

However, it is not possible for the HUD itself to slide off your screen if still being worn. Very bizarre.

EDIT: This last point well and truly debunked by the sages posting immediately after me. :)

There is an issue in JIRA for disappearing HUDs... check it out here:

https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-434

Is this what you're experiencing?

A HUD *can* be in an off-screen position. If so, however, it will still be in your inventory and shown as "worn". To get it back on the screen, right click any other HUD and select Edit. now zoom out with your scroll wheel. You will appear to "step back" from the interface and be able to see the real estate beyond your screen borders. Right click the errant HUD and edit it back into position.

If this is not your problem, and the HUD is actually missing from inventory, most likely it's been dropped somewhere in-world. Many of them are such tiny things that it's going to be real hard to find it again, unless you have a good idea where you actually left it. If you do, go there, click About Land and Objects, and hit Refresh to see if anything that belongs to you is there.

No, I don't think so (although must admit in all honesty that my eyes crossed reading that report). This HUD has disappeared in entirety. It has left the building.

Great advice, Lindal. I wish I had known this last week when it happened to me. I got so frustrated I just deleted it from my inventory after detaching it. Fortunately, I found a copy.

If it doesn't show up in your inventory, as Lindal said, you must have dropped it by accident. I hope it gets sent back to your Lost and Found if it wasn't on your land.

I do know where this happened, and I just went back and clicked on About Land, then Objects, but the Refresh button isn't available to hit----maybe because it's not my land???

The only way I got around this in the past was to re-attach the HUD to a different spot, but I never really liked that option. Therefore, this is really nice to know.
