"We are getting reports from some residents that there are regions where textures do not seem to be loading properly. The effect is everyone in the region appears gray to everyone else. We are investigating the cause and will have updates as soon as possible.

If this problem is occurring in your region, first try rebaking your textures (Ctrl-Alt-R). If that does not work, please try clearing your cache and relogging. If after that everyone in the region is still gray, please contact support via the support portal. Please be sure to include the name of the region in your ticket."

Sorry but what is new about that?
Can you help me with this part
... If that does not work, please try clearing your cache and relogging...
What is clearing your cache?
Sorry I not a good computer understander, but I know you here will know and help.
Thanks

Go to edit-preferences. Then I think the right tab is General, although it may be Graphics. Click "clear cache" and log out, then log back in. It might take a while to log back in as the system clears your cache, so be patient. Clearing cache gets rid of all the stuff that your computer has saved locally from SL. Caching stuff makes loading quicker, but sometimes it can screw things up as well, so it's a good idea to clear it out and start fresh every once in a while.

When you click the Edit/Prefrences/network <<~~ I think thats it and click the clear Cache button.. Sign off and sign back on

Not in world and I do it a million times, in fact its about the first thing I do when I sign on so if I crash then it clears for me the next time I sign on.... :D

I think the Network one is for clearing your web cache, which is different.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Edit - preferences - network - clear cache - close program - reopen - cache cleared.

Since the OP's question has been answered in triplicate I'll hijack this thread..

Is anybody familiar with what the blog is about? It seems unlikely that they'd blog about the normal issues that most everybody has with stuff being gray. Is this the stuck download queue problem or is something else going on?

I don't think it's referring to the normal problem, I think they're getting reports of regions that are perpetually loading avs as gray, no matter what you do. I could, of course, be incorrect.

Happened to me this morning. When I signed back on this afternoon, I cleared my cache and it still happened. I re-baked, re-installed, updated video card driver, still grey. I noticed that some of my plant textures weren't loading either. I know I need a new video card but wasn't ready to purchase yet. I hope they can fix the problem soon.

Don't go blaming your hardware just yet. If it's in the blog, it may be fixed in a week. If it says [resolved], it may be fixed in 7 days. (^_^)

I clear my cache regularly in 2 tabs in preferences: the NETWORK tab clears your SL cache while the WEB tab clears your Internet browser cache. Does wonders for me.

Not a cache thingy .. seems more to me to be a LOD thingy .. if you zoom onto a gray av . the skins and clothes colours rez.. as you pull back your cam . they go gray again ..Been happening to me in a few sims in the past couple hours .. cache clearing does not help.

I dunno, doesn't seem new to me. Everywhere I go, everything and everyone is grey and takes forever to rez, some people never do rez. I've always thought it was a hardware issue, so I don't complain about it, and yes, like many people have mentioned, I also clear my cache, cookies, temp files on a regular basis. I just shrug it off and keep adding pennies to the jar for a new puter........oh'z wellz

This happened to me when I went to the AlterNation sim today. All avis were gray and more than half of the textures in the store stayed gray. Nothing I tried worked: zooming in, clicking, edit>texture, etc. I doubt clearing cache would have helped because as soon as I TPed out, everything looked fine.

I noticed this happening this morning when I took a turn through the RFL Clothing Fair and spent the whole time wondering what huge textures there must be those sims. Guess it was happening there/then, too.

Assets seem really slow. Watching my inventory load after I cleared my cache was painful. Textures are assets, so it stands to reason there's a bottleneck of some kind, doesn't it?

Clearing Cache does not help
03-19-2008 13:06
Clear your Cache and then you will see yourself as well as others as grey . Also inventory loads seem affected. This seems to be happening everywhere . I have not seen anyone not grey yet. I saw myself nto grey until cleared cache . Now Grey always.

Textures aren't uploading and if you're working with sculpties, the sculpt maps are grey rendering the sculpt into a sphere. I keep hoping they'll fix it soon!

I already tried all that, its happening everywhere I go this evening. Everyone I ask is getting the same issue and apparently it started out on a few regions and has gotten worse as the day went on.

Really would be nice if they could do something about it, its made building impossible, and its very hard to do anything whatsoever.
