Hi! I'm one of those types that frequently spends anything up to 6 hours at a time logged into SL building and stuff like that. As such, I've got a computer that can handle it quite nicely... 3.4 gHz P4 (945D), 2 gB RAM, nVidia 8400GS w/256mb RAM, etc., etc... Recently I've started crashing like crazy and I'll be lucky if I even stay logged in for 5 minutes. Sometimes before I read my first IM... This is a real showstopper when it comes to building as the system frequently makes me wait 5 minutes before relogging after a crash which tends to break the workflow. The crashing doesn't help my live music performances much either although, thankfully, it doesn't affect the outbound audio stream.... Just looks kinda weird with an empty stage.

Any suggestions welcomed.

Edit..... Tried the Release Candidate viewer.... slight improvement. Still crashing alot :|

I've had a lot of crashes since the last version ... maybe today's downtime might address some.

just a thought...have you inspected your computer for dust?

mine was crashing quite frequently last week, and when I suspected overheating, I opened it up to find quite a bit of dust and cat hair in my computer (hehe)
The CPU had dust filling all of the cooling fins.

after vacuuming and blowing it out with compressed air, it has been working fine.

I found some sims are dodgier than others for reliability.
I also checked out the downtime calendar. It says down at 2.00pm and rolling restarts at 9.00pm.

I'll try the dust-busting option but I'm not holding my breath. Last night my SL viewer crashed while doing a show. Cubase 4 (for my backing tracks) and my encoder, OddCast, kept humming along nicely. Cubase 4 is a serious system hog... so much so that I assign Cubase & SL to separate cores when I do shows... something which has worked just fine up until recently.
