Does the avatar that can't TP have lots of attachments/HUDs on? That can make a huge difference in TP speed and maybe even if they can TP at all...

The most common cause is attachment load on one of the avatars. Jettison espeically primmy attachments, anything with a lot of resize scripts (hair, shoes typically), heavy duty multifunction HUDs and the like, and see if it improves. If that helps, try putting things back on one at a time until you find the trouble maker.

no not an unusual amount of attachments and just one huddle.. prim count isnt extravagant either.. have tried logging in at two low lag areas including cyclops and even then couldnt get out of the gate so to speak on the tp..

ARC is just an estimate of what an avatar will do to other viewers, it doesn't really tell you much about teleporting. HUDDLES devices are actually fairly heavy script-wise. Try dumping *all* attachments before looking for other causes.

I have to agree with the others' assessments - you are wearing something that does not cross region boundaries (which includes in-world TP's) well. Dress down to system clothing, remove *ALL* HUDs and prim-based attachments and then try. _____________________

Honey worked with LL for days, if not weeks, on an issue like this. If I remember correctly, it came down to the hair she was wearing.

Dress down to system clothing, remove *ALL* HUDs and prim-based attachments and then try. I've experienced failing TPs lately with avatars that have no attachments whatsoever. Sometimes it takes foreeeeever, and then about 75% of the time in that case I am logged out of SL. It started when the new server was rolled out, I believe. |

I agree, there has been an increase in TP failures lately due to badly-handled region-to-region handoffs. It seems they've gotten worse since 1.27 was rolled out. However, these are usually inconsistent, and might bite you one out of every 20 times or so. However, in the OP's case where it is very consistent, it is because he is wearing *something* that is causing the region handoff to time out.
Crashing to desktop, or being logged off by a TP failure, however, is inexcusable, and is the product of poor programming. The problem is, when the destination region is contacted and a reply is not received in a timely manner, the TP is gracefully aborted. However, once the destination region replies and the originating region starts the handoff, if the destination region does not fully receive you in time, you are dropped because the originating region considered the handoff complete and no longer considers you online that region anymore; however, the destination region has not fully received you and marked you online there yet. So, when the handoff times out, you are nowhere. This being logged out can be programmed out by simply breaking the TP into two discrete steps: The first step is the actual handoff, and the second is handoff acknowledgement. To put it simply, the originating region should not log you off the region until it has received acknowledgement from the destination region that handoff succeeded. _____________________

Husband of a friend recently had a problem where he could not get sit animations built into chair to work, no matter what. He tried taking everything off... no result. Nothing was working.
We tried all kinds of tricks. Finally they discovered that a pair of noob glasses he'd tried on once and removed had 'left behind' a script on him overwriting his sits... he found this out by wearing the glasses and taking them off, and suddenly being able to use sit animations again. - I mention that story because, if you go nude, and still can't TP, you might have a ghost script on you somewhere. At that point, you might just have to find it. Or suggest the idea to a linden on live chat support. They won't be able to find it on their own... the notion is just outside of the things they're want to look for. Don't even know if they can find it if told about it. My friend's husband got nowhere with support, and found out about the glasses only later through random trial an error going down the inventory. _____________________

Crashing to desktop, or being logged off by a TP failure, however, is inexcusable, and is the product of poor programming. SL has hacked on 2005 graphics tweaked by the user community to resembled 2007, built on an engine dating to 2002 technology, thought up by coders who finished school in 1995, and bandaided ever since... Get a modern built MMO, and you won't have all of these 'zoning moments' every so many meters traveled, and zoning between distant points is usually handled a lot more smoothly. What SL needs is for them to build an entirely new back-engine and graphics engine, and then read in the existing database into a newly built database engine... - but that's a very costly notion. _____________________

Try thinning out your inventory to under 10,000 items.

I've just had a few island to island TP failures - I'm thinking of an old bug here that was supposedly resolved quite some time ago. I could TP to a mainland region and then TP to the original island destination.
I do hope we are not regressing back old bugs. ![]() _____________________

Try thinning out your inventory to under 10,000 items. Actually, I have found that having lots of groups and/or groups with a huge number of members (or maybe with lots more roles) seem to have the largest impact on my TPs - probably because the group permissions must be checked. _____________________
