is there a way in the debug settings possibly to change the avatar posion so the its just the position you are in not the standing with your arms out position?

also is there somewhere that describes what all the different debug settings are?

While I can't help you with your avatar position when in edit mode, here is a link to some more Debug options,

I don't think there is a way to change that 'edit appearance' position.

It is set up that way so that when an avatar is being edited you are getting the most uniform and symetrical view of the changes you are making. Also....in terms of creating or adjusting prim attachments (like sleeve cuffs or jewelery or armour) that position is the default position that will correctly correlate to the way prims are adjusted.

Anotherwords....if you try to adjust something on your arm and your arm is bent slightly.... then as soon as your arm moves.....the adjustment position will be off because it was not done while your arm was in default state. The prims move with the body....so the starting point for adjusting those prims has to be uniform in order for them to fit properly.

Why do you ask? You actually do not have to use edit appearance at all if you are already happy with your shape. You can wear things by just selecting them from your inventory and selecting 'wear'. Just curious why this position is bothersom to you.

In the RC viewer, the avatar only successfully makes it into the proper edit pose about 10% of the time. The rest of the time, it ends up somewhere in between whatever pose it was in before you hit Edit, and the actual edit pose. Sometimes it doesn't move at all. So, if you want to roll the dice with the pose, have fun with that particular bug.

There are at least a couple of built-in animations that are very special. The one that plays when you Edit / Appearance is "turn_180"; what's special about it is that whenever it's played on an avatar, ";(Editing Appearance)" appears under the avatar's name overhead. This happens with most posing stands. (Another such animation is "away", with predictably analogous results.) So I'm guessing that the turn_180 animation and appearance editing are pretty tightly-coupled in the viewer. (Someone into the source code might be able to comment with more detail.)

If it is the position itself, I don't have anything to add other than "don't know." If it is viewing yourself in editing appearance mode, then you can use the arrow keys (The pop-up in world, not the arrow keys on your keyboard; what is that pop-up called, view camera . . camera movement . . ) to zoom in and out and twirl like a hyper bunny.

Personally, I find it particularly difficult to adjust shoulder width to the desired proportion with the arms stuck out in the air. I typically make small changes, save and exit, see what I look like standing normally and repeat as necessary.

Pose stand with options
04-01-2008 12:29
Anton - best I can suggest is that I was in Harbinger's Haven Builder's Sandbox today and saw a pose stand which appeared to have the option of 3 different positions on it - arms akimbo, arms out from sides halfway, and arms down at sides.
Didn't try it but might be worth checking out and then contacting the owner to see where they got it or if it's commercially available.

Good luck
