Anyone have any clues as to when the test grid is gonna be back up? Maybe the Lindens have realised they make more money when its down.

Even though it's not official all signs point to the test grid going away in favor of just using the release candidate viewers instead to test stuff they're not entirely sure about especially since with the new architecture changes they can test server side code on only a small number of areas so that and the RC candidates have made the test grid useless... well except for the people who used it to test textures.

Except that when they announced the 'het grid' they explicity stated that the beta grid was not going away. It would be a major mistake to do so as bugs that creep in such as permissions bugs woudl not be confined to the beta grid, but would be unleashed on the main grid. All that would be necessarey would be to take any item you want to exploit to one of the beta sims.

Re: “What’s up with the beta grid?”

We’ve got some new server-side work (beyond mere bug fixes) going into beta, and we had the beta grid prepped for previewing the work. At the last minute, we found some showstoppers and are fixing them before we open it up. As soon as its stable enough we’ll open it up, with appropriate fanfare.

Thanks Dekka. Those comments get buried so deep in the blogs that it is hard to find them.

Thanks Dekka! It's a relief to see it's not completely dying!
