First check to make sure that you didn't just add USD to your account and that you actually bought the L$. If you did actually buy the L$, then you'll need to open a support ticket or call billings. Probably both.

The more descriptive you can be, the more help someone might be able to offer. You are being very vague about exactly what you did. Where did you buy it? What payment method? Information is key.

My account page, Linden Dollar summary: L$ 5
Via Quick Buy L$ from home page I purchase L$20k
Xstreeet SL
SSL Balance: L$20,000 USD Balance: $0
"You cannot purchase Linden Dollars right now for the following reason: You have deposited $96.35 dollars within the past 3 days. You are currently limited to $50.00 per rolling 3 days."
----------------
So, I have L$20,000 but not in Second Life... HUH?

Okay, see what some good info will do? Go to an Xstreet SL terminal in Second Life (search map for Xstreet) and withdraw your Lindens. Touch the terminal for help.
Explanation: XStreet used to be owned by a company other than Linden Lab. Linden Lab purchased XStreet, but the financial processes are still separate. There are stated plans to integrate the balances together in SL, but it has not happened yet.

Or, on your Xstreet page, there's a "withdraw" button underneath your account balance. That'll do the trick without going inworld.

Also to get around you newbie limit you can usually create up to 4 alt accounts on the same email address and get them to buy money.
The normal wa to buy Lindens inworld rather than through X-Street is to just click your Linden balance in the top right corner or find the "Buy $L" option in the top left menus.
